Addison closed the door behind her, locked it, headed for the parking lot to get into her car, and headed home. It had been such a long day, and all she wanted to do was soak in the tub and relax for the rest of the evening.

As she drove home, she wondered if she’d hear from Cody soon. It had been a week since he called, and she had heard nothing.

“Maybe he changed his mind,” she muttered.

When she pulled up to her house, she shut the car off, opened the door, then entered the house. It was still warm for so late in the day. She smiled when her Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Lollipop, ran into the kitchen.

Addison kneeled and hugged her.

“Hey, there, Lolli. How was your day?” She smiled when the dog barked.

Straightening, she set her purse on the table by the backdoor, and her cellphone vibrated. She pulled it from her pocket. Her heart hit her stomach when she saw Cody’s number. She took a deep breath, blew it out, hit Answer, and put it to her ear.

“Hello?”

“Hello, Addison,” his deep voice had chills running down her spine.

“Hi. I thought you forgot about me.”

“Not a chance. I’ve just been so busy getting moved and settled. Although, that part isn’t done yet.”

“I hate moving.”

“Who doesn’t? You could help me, you know.”

Addison could hear the smile in his voice.

“Sure.”

“Seriously?”

“Unless you really don’t want me to.”

“I’ll take all the help I can get.”

“Well, I’m off tomorrow.”

“That sounds good. I’ll send you my address. Is eleven too early for you?”

“Not at all, but you asked me to dinner.”

“Yes, ma’am. I haven’t forgotten. How about dinner next Saturday evening?”

“Sounds good. I can bring a pizza tomorrow or stop by the diner and get burgers.”

“Gray told me all about those burgers, so I’d love to try one.”

“They’re fantastic. Just tell me what you want on it, and I’ll go there before I go to your house.”

Cody told her what he wanted on his burger.

“I’ll see you tomorrow then, around eleven. I plan on putting you to work,” he said.

“I’ll be ready. Hey, I just got home, so I want to hit the tub and relax. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Yes, you will. Have a nice evening.” He disconnected.

Addison smiled as she disconnected and placed the phone on the counter. She pulled a chair from the table, sat, then toed off her sneakers. She needed comfortable shoes, since she had to be on her feet all day.
