“That is one hot-looking man,” Kinley said, then looked at her. “If you don’t go out with him, I will never speak to you again.”

“If he asks, I’m definitely going out with him.” Addison grinned. “He’s the first man to appeal to me since Stuart.”

“Good, but you are one lucky bitch.” Kinley tilted her head. “I wonder if he’s just visiting. He is not from around here. I’d remember seeing him and those tight Wranglers.”

Addison nibbled on her lower lip. Was there any sense in going out with him if he’s not from the area? Well, if he called, she would ask him about that. She returned to work and couldn’t keep the smile off her face.

Once in the truck, Cody started to push the ignition button, but could feel his sister’s eyes on him, so he sat back, looked at her, and raised his eyebrow.

“What?”

Vivian laughed. “What, he says. You don’t care who sees you flirt, do you?”

“Come on, Vivian, you make it sound like I flirted with every woman in there.” He grinned. “I’m only interested in one of them.”

“Well, Addison is wonderful, but I know how you are with relationships.”

“Me? I’m not the one who broke it off both times, three if you count Gwyn twice.”

“That reminds me, why did you take her back? When you were here for Christmas, before my wedding, you said it was over. You started seeing Penny, and the next thing I know you’re back with Gwyn.” Vivian folded her arms and stared at him.

“Yeah, I get it. You don’t care for Gwyn, but I loved her, Vivian, so I thought we could work it out.”

“The only thing she wanted to work out was your wallet.”

Cody huffed. “I know. It’s over now. I won’t take her back again, though I’m sure she’ll be back.”

“You take her back again, and I’ll have Grayson arrest you.”

Cody widened his eyes and raised his eyebrows.

“For what?”

“Pissing me off.”

“Hell, he’d do it to keep you from getting pissed at him.”

“You know it. Seriously, please don’t hurt Addison.”

“I promise you, I will not intentionally hurt her. Happy now?”

“Don’t be a smartass. Take me home. I’m getting hungry.”

Cody shook his head, started the truck, and drove toward Vivian and Grayson’s ranch.

“I can’t wait to show you the house,” he said.

“I can’t wait to see it. It sounds beautiful. I’m so glad you’re staying here. Well, in Clifton, anyway.”

“I guess I could have looked for a house in Hartland, but I had to stop when I saw that sign.” He shrugged.

“It was fate,” Vivian said.

“If you say so.”

“You don’t believe everything happens for a reason?”
