“Do not,” I scoffed.

“Yes, you do. All of you do. You like to pretend that you’re happy with the peace and quiet, but you miss the thrill of the hunt and the chase. You want to be shot at!”

I rolled my eyes at the ridiculous notion that I would actually wish to have bullets flying at me. “Becky, in case you’ve forgotten, I’m partially blind in one eye. Bullets flying at me aren’t exactly my friend.”

“No, but neither is a slow day.”

Irritated, I stormed toward the door.

“Don’t you at least want to know where the alarms started?”

Dammit, now I had to stay and face her teasing. But I was the boss. This was part of the job. Turning, I jerked my head to the screens. “Show me.”

“Of course,” she grinned. “We wouldn’t want to leave a single stone unturned.”

“Just get on it,” I growled.

“Alright, alright. Keep your pants on. Let’s see,” she said, tracing the alarms back to the point of origin. “Here,” she pointed at the screen. “It’s in the training center.”

She hadn’t even finished talking when I headed out of the room. I ran to the secondary access point we’d installed earlier this year and ran down the stairs to the training center where most were gathered since the jobs had been slower. Storming through the doors, I stumbled to a stop when I saw everyone gathered in what looked like a fight club.

“I got twenty on Cazzo!”

“Nah, he’ll lose his cool. My vote is for Rob.”

And so it continued. They were betting on a fucking fight? I marched over to the crowd and started pulling people back by the scruff of their necks. By the time I got to the middle, Cazzo and Rob were both a bloodied mess. I didn’t know what started this, but I was about to finish it.

I let out a piercing whistle, satisfied when everyone stopped immediately and turned to face me. Cazzo was heaving breaths in and out while Rob was more relaxed, acting like it was no big deal to have his face smashed in by Cazzo’s massive fists.

“What the fuck is going on here?” I shouted.

Cazzo swung his gaze to Rob’s and let out a low growl. “He fucked my wife.”

Rob barked out a laugh. “No, I didn’t.”

“Then why the fuck am I hearing that?”

“Um…because you’re believing rumors? Trust me, Vanessa is sexy as hell, but do you honestly think she would leave you for me? Not that I wouldn’t hit that in an?—”

Cazzo launched himself at Rob, slamming his fist into Rob’s face. The hit was one that Rob didn’t recover from immediately. In fact, he was out cold on the ground.

Rolling my eyes, I stepped in front of Cazzo. “That’s enough. This needs to end.”

Cazzo’s nostrils flared as he stared down at the man he thought defiled his wife. “Scum.”

“Rob didn’t sleep with Vanessa. You know that.”

“What I know is that if I don’t get away from him, I’ll smash his face into the ground.”

“Alright, you’re being just a tad dramatic here.”

His eyes flicked to mine. “Send me out.”

“What?” I laughed. “Over this?”

“I swear to God, Cap. I will fucking kill him if you keep me around him.”

Talk about dramatic. I wasn’t sure what got Cazzo’s boxers in a knot, but he was acting like this was the 1700s and another man insulted his wife. Therefore, he had to duel with Rob for his wife’s honor.
