“Gosh, I forget you don’t know much. Well, there are other areas of the country where omegas don’t have as many rights and aren’t as protected. We live in a nice place, all things considered.” I winced at the idea. I knew omegas were treated differently here, but it sounded like it could be even worse. “My cousin lives a few states away. They auction off omegas and let alphas force bites without much consequence if they have enough money.” My mouth dropped open in shock. What kind of world was this?

“That’s awful! You mean the government doesn’t do anything about it?” She nodded.

“Yea, and it can be even worse in some places. But luckily, we are in a civilized area. Anyway, most countries have some form of Designation Rights to protect all designations to work toward equality. But it’s a work in progress.” I lay back, thinking about how lucky I was that I stumbled into a safe area. It made me all the more grateful that the men I knew were kind and respectful.

My phone pinged and I checked it while a grin spread across my face. “What? What is it?” Bella shot up and scrambled over to see who texted me. It was Aiden.

Care for some hiking this weekend?

My fingers moved across the screen to answer him back while Bella made a small shrieking noise as she peered at the screen behind me.

Um, yes please!

I had been craving some outdoor time. He confirmed a place and time while Bella babbled on about how we were going to be falling in love near a waterfall. All I could think about was how lucky I was that I had people who cared about me in this world, and that I couldn't wait to get some outdoor time!

Chapter 19

Piper

I was in heaven. Well, close anyway. The hiking that Aiden had planned for me turned out to be a trail at one of the nature preserves nearby. We couldn’t go too far away - the doctor told me I had to keep my four hours maximum rule around Alphas while my body acclimated to being an omega. So since we had a time restriction, he had picked to take me on a nice walk through what was essentially a hilly park. I didn’t mind though. I was finally able to feel normal again.

I was currently making my way downhill when I spotted a meadow filled with wildflowers. “Look!” I pointed, and Aiden glanced in that direction. He had been staring at me for the majority of our hike, and I was surprised he didn’t walk into a tree. I couldn’t say I minded though - I was flattered to have someone as attractive as him so interested in me.

“Do you want to go check it out?” I nodded and practically skipped over to the meadow, the entire field a smattering of colored flowers. I loved that I was experiencing this withsomeone. As much as I loved being out in nature to find myself, it was great to experience it with another person who was enjoying it as well. I stopped in the flowers, looking at each of them and wondering if they were similar to the ones back in my own world. I felt warm arms reach around and hug me from behind, pulling me against Aiden’s chest as he held me and whispered in my ear. “Someday I’ll take you to the mountains when it’s safe for you.” I grinned, reaching back to feel him.

“I’d love that.” He nibbled at my neck, letting his tongue graze over where I was developing my scent glands. Shivers ran down my body.

“I can’t wait until your full scent develops. I already know it will be as delicious as the rest of you.” His murmurs of praise made me lightheaded as I rocked against him. I felt something hard - I rocked back again and blushed as I realized he was sporting an erection here in the field with me. I gulped.

“Aiden, should we go somewhere more - private?” I saw a few other people on the trail as we hiked. There wasn’t anyone else around now, but there would be soon. And I knew if he kept nuzzling my neck like that, I’d be unable to hold back for long.

“We still have a few hours left. Would you like a tour of the home? You never got to see it last time.” He was inviting me back to his place. I grinned and nodded. “Let’s get you back then. We aren’t too far from the end of the trail.”

After our hike, he brought me back to his palatial house. I saw other cars in the garage and already guessed his other pack members might be there, but couldn’t hear anyone once we were inside. He walked around, giving me the grand tour.

“I know you already saw the living room, but now you can see the full kitchen.” I peered at the massive room, all spotless granite countertops and high-end appliances.

“Do you have a cleaning service?” He laughed at my question.

“No - there are three of us, we keep a cleaning rotation.” My eyes widened as I thought about it. These men kept their place clean, which was another huge plus in my book. He showed me the other levels in the house, skipping the bedrooms and a room in the very back of the third floor. “There are a few rooms we keep private - you can ask Declan and Dominic if you want to see their rooms. We have seven bedrooms total.” I nodded respectfully.

“Plenty of room for an addition to your pack.” His ears perked at my words, and he grinned as he led me down the stairs.

“We have a nest room as well. It’s available, if you need it - Declan might have mentioned your heat and a request.” I nodded and blushed. We passed an office, and something caught my eye.

“Hey! Who’s that!” I reached for a newspaper clipping off the desk. I peered at it, my heart racing. A man in a grainy photo who looked very familiar. To my utter shock, I realized it was the man from the campsite. Aiden scratched the back of his neck.

“About that - I was trying to do some research on other worlds, and this was one of the only articles I found. I thought it was nonsense. But you seem to recognize him?” I read through the article. It was a local university professor, claiming parallel universes existed simultaneously. My eyes scanned the article. He was quoted saying that weak pockets existed where people could cross between.

“Aiden! This guy - I saw him right before I ended up in this world. Can I keep this?” He nodded at me, but I could see a change in his face.

“So you really are from somewhere else.” I folded up the article and put it in my bag. I needed to investigate and see if it was possible to find this man.

“Of course! I’ve been telling everyone that for months! You all thought I was just knocked in the head too hard, right?” He smoothed his hands down my arms.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have questioned you, it’s just… If you are from somewhere else, there’s a chance you could go back.” My heart dropped. He was worried I’d leave.

“Okay - let’s shelve this for another time. I don’t want to ruin the rest of our date. You were going to show me your awesome movie room?” His face lightened and he herded me downstairs to a massive room
