“Ah, here we are.” Kian looked out the window as we pulled up to the movie theater. It was one I had been to before - the nice one in Haven that we sometimes went to as a group activity when I was living in the Omega House. But today it looked strangely empty, with no people lined up or many other cars outside. The driver opened the door for us and the pack filed out, two of them on either side of the door offering their hands to me as I stepped out of the limo. “Where is everyone?” I asked, looking around as we walked up to the lone cashier behind the window.

“We wanted this to be a special date - so we rented it out for the evening.” Jameson said, leaning down toward me as he spoke.

“You have a habit of renting places out, I see.” They chuckled at my words as they opened the door to the theater. There were only a few staff here, and each of them nodded at us as we headed inside.

“Well, we wanted you to feel comfortable. A movie with a bunch of other people around is noisy, and we don’t want any distractions. Snacks?” Cy asked as he went to the counter. I followed behind him and looked up. I’d never been one to get much at the theater, but that was because the snacks were usually outside my budget.

“Hmm, I’ll get popcorn, some candy, and a large soda.” The pack put in their requests as well, and the cashier behind the counter gathered everything for us. Maddox and Kian carried the food and drinks while Cy paid. They herded me toward one of the screening rooms while I looked around, still shocked to see the theater with no one else in it. I was even more surprised when we walked in and I saw a large extended couch where our five seats should have been. I spun around and looked at them.

“How did you get a couch in here?” The guys looked at each other before answering me.

“Well, it did take a last-minute crew to bring it in. They will take it down and reinstall the chairs back after we leave.” I walked over to the big, soft couch, running my hand over it as I marveled at what they had done.

“It’s like a big private living room.” I felt Maddox behind me, following as I crawled to the center of the couch.

“That’s the idea.” He handed me my drink and popcorn as the others settled in until we were all sitting in a pile. I realized we hadn’t all been together like this except for the heat, and during that time I was in a haze for the majority of it. The lights dimmed around us and Kian reached over to hand me the remote.

“We haven't picked a movie yet. You choose.” I looked up at the screen. They must have paid a lot to have this set up. I scrolled through the options, trying my hardest not to be affected by the heat of their bodies next to me. I ended up choosing a comedy to keep things light. Once the movie started, we settled in as I started munching on the popcorn. It was just the five of us sitting together comfortably as we snuggled close and had our snacks. In a surreal way, it was what I had always wanted to feel with them. In the limited amount of time I’d been with their pack, we had spent most of it getting to know each other and finally agreeing to come together for a heat. We’d never had the time to actually relax and just be. Now I was finally getting to see what it was like - and I didn’t dislike it. In fact, I was already aching with the thought that I’d likely never feel this way with any other pack. And I wanted to feel this way forever.

Jameson was to my left, Maddox to my right. I reached for their hands, holding on to both of them. “This feels like home.” I uttered the words without realizing it. I hadn’t felt like I was home in a long time. Not since before I left my old town of Goldpine. Even now, in my villa with my parents nearby, something was still missing. It was them. My pack.

“Yes, that’s the idea. We wanted you to know what it would be like to be with us, not just on date nights, but on normal days as well. After all, any pack could take you to the finest restaurants. And we want to take you there as well.” Maddox said as he lightly ran his thumb across my palm. “But fancy dates aren't everyday life. We want you to know how it would be, just you and us, when all is said and done.” I had to remind myself to breathe. His words were hitting me in a way I didn’t expect. Kian leaned over to join in, his arm curling around Maddox as he spoke.

“We wanted to have a relaxed evening with you, just the five of us, back when you were still with our pack.” Maddox used his free hand to grasp Kian’s. “Now we can finally be with you in that way. This is how our pack is. This is what life would be like, stripped down to the basics.” Cy reached for me over Jameson’s chest on the other side.

“Bella, we can’t begin to understand the hurt you’ve been through. But we do want to show you what we offer, and what we have is this. Our pack. Who loves you.” I let out a small gasp as Jameson squeezed my hand, looking into my eyes as I started shaking. “It’s true Bella. We all love you, every one of us. And we want to start making things right, even if it takes the rest of our lives.” I felt my eyes water, my resolve breaking. Everything I ever wanted was right here in front of me. And my dream come true was more than just a pack - they were the right pack. And for them, I was finally the right omega.

A tear broke free as I started back at Jameson. “You can start making it right by calling me the right name.” Jameson looked at me, startled. “Well, aren’t I your kitten?” He was stunned for a moment, then scooped me up as the pack converged around us.

“My kitten.” He rumbled as I cried into his chest. “I missed you so much, kitten.” Cy and Kian were rumbling their purrs so loud that we didn’t even notice the movie playing anymore.

“Don’t cry, sweet thing.” I pulled away to look at Cy, pulling him in for a kiss. “They’re happy tears, silly.” I whispered. He leaned in and we connected, our mouths finally breaking the icy wall that I’d put up around myself to keep them out. I felt relief flow through us all as I accepted them again. I couldn’t stay mad at them. It just wasn’t in my nature.

The rest of the evening was spent with us speaking from the heart, catching up on our lives and our regrets. They had quite a few, all of them involving the events leading up to being separated from me. Kian was extra contrite, as he knew our relationship had started off rocky from the get go. But by the end of it we were bundled up on each other, comfortably watching the third movie of the night. Although at that point, I was sure none of us knew what the plot was. We were all too busy enjoying being reunited and soaking up as much time and touch as possible.

“Hey, how long did you book the theater for?” I asked, lifting my head from Kian’s chest as I looked around. “The staff have to go home at some point.” Cy reached over and stroked my head lazily.

“We booked it the whole night. On the small chance you wanted to stay all night, we had to be prepared.” I leaned back to savor in the comfort of my pack, in my town, finally able to safely and openly court me.

“I’d like this date to never end.” They smiled at each other and at me.

“Then let’s make it an all nighter, shall we?”

Chapter 66

Kian

In all the ways I imagined my life might go, moving to a town called Haven in the Western Province was not something I could have conceived. Yet here I was. We’d given up our livelihood, the only way of life we’d really known. Starting fresh would mean giving up all the ways we knew how to make money and keep power. But it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Yes, we’d left our business and our old lifestyle. We would no longer feel the rush of adrenaline at completing a mission successfully. But nothing compared to our biggest mission of all, securing Bella as our omega.

We no longer came home with injuries, unless you counted the little hickies and bites from when Bella got frisky on our dates. Now, we had traded in our dangerous lifestyle for a safe and normal way of life where bribes weren’t a common practice, guns were only carried by police, and packs had to earn an omega, not just take one and put a claim bite on her.

I was slowly building connections for a new real estate business in Haven, and although it would take longer, I enjoyed the challenge. We no longer had to worry about bribing officials and having other packs take us out. The work was honest, and I knew our pack would succeed. Jameson was the happiest he’d ever been, teaching how to fight off attackers in his self-defense courses. He was keen on helping people defend themselves, and was very satisfied with his work. Cy started taking contracts for his cybersecurity business, and seemed to waste no time fitting in by joining clubs in Haven. He’d never had a chance to do so before, not with all the work we were involved in. And Maddox was using his specialties to start working with pharmaceutical companies on improving suppressants and other scent related projects.

After a few months of being in Haven, I realized something. It happened when Maddox and I were at Bella’s house, visiting with her and her family after taking her out shopping. We were in her backyard relaxing by the pool under a canopy of vines that provided plenty of shade for us. I realized that even though I hadn't heard from the rest of the pack all day, I wasn’t worried. The realization hit me hard - I knew I didn’t need to worry about them, because they were safe.

I had always carried within me a latent anxiety that I’d developed when I was a child. It started when I knew I wasn’t safe, even in my own home and from my own family. It had only grown worse when I was a target for my father’s enemies, and then when I had a pack to protect. At any moment in time, someone might be out to get me or one of my pack members. Now that we were in Haven and had cut ties to our old lives, I realized that I was finally at peace. It felt amazing, and I owed it all to the little omega who we’d accidentally taken all those months ago.

Bella was laughing at something her parents said, throwing her head back and closing her eyes. She looked so happy. And I knew I was, too. I would not have to worry so much about keeping everyone safe, because the threats that always existed before were no longer around. I’d been feeling everyone’s bonds since we reconnected with Bella, and our pack was stronger than ever.
