“Fuck, what are you doing to me, woman?” he asked hoarsely.

She laughed thickly and shook her head, eyes on the orange-and-pink hues of sunset. “I barely know my name right now.”

He let off a deep chuckle that rattled through her entire body.

“Let me remind you.” He eased back and cupped her cheeks, searched her eyes. “You are Eliza Shaw.”

Chapter Thirty-Three

How was Eliza supposed to sleep when she was so close to Garret’s body?

After what they had done to each other’s bodies in the woods?

They’d spent time after that intimacy laying together in the woods and watching the sunset until it was dark, and just…talking.

By the time they’d gotten back to their campsite, Lenny and Burke were already asleep.

Truth be told, Eliza was relieved for that small blessing. She would’ve probably acted very awkward after what had happened out in those woods.

Garret had settled his bedroll directly beside hers, and he was lying on his side, just watching her.

“Are you overthinking right now?” he whispered.

She grinned. “I want to do all that again. And more!”

He chuckled quietly, and brushed his finger against her cheek. “Are you feeling better about what Wyatt said?”

“Wyatt who?” she joked. She loved the smile on Garret’s face.

“Feel better?”

“Am I claimed?”

The smile slipped. “Not quite.”

“But you’re clearly attracted to me,” she observed.

He nodded. “Very.”

“Then I guess I feel great about what Wyatt said. He doesn’t know how it really is.”

“He just says that shit to get under your skin. It benefits him to cause problems between us.”

She nodded. “I feel…”

He brushed her cheek again. “Feel what?”

“Happy.”

He rolled his eyes closed and exhaled a long breath. “I’m glad.”

“Remember when I tried to punch Burke?” she whispered.

He laughed and nodded. “You stress me out.”

“You mean I keep you on your toes, which is good for you. You’re welcome.”

“You need to sleep.”
