Her lips quirked. “You don’t want much, do you, Tor Arquin?”

He stared at her, enthralled yet again by her beauty. Right now, what he wanted was to take her in his arms, crush her soft lips with his. Taste the pleasure of every nook and cranny of her body. Right here on this rock on top of the freakin’ world. But all he did was shake his big orc skull. “Not much. Just this.”

Just you.

He saw her lips part, the sudden swell of her breasts as she inhaled, and a zing shot down his spine, tightening his balls.

I will mate with you.

The certainty of it shocked him. Abruptly, Tor broke eye contact, letting his gaze roam across the horizon, taking in the smell of the forest, the scent of wildflowers on the air mixed with the salty tang of the sea.

“Let’s go back to the waterfall,” he said, needing to tamp down these feelings that were making his heart pound and his cock harden. “I have some food in my backpack. We can eat, drink.”

Her lips quirked again with clear amusement. “We only had lunch a couple of hours ago, Tor.”

He had to smirk. “As you might have gathered earlier, orcs like to eat.” He patted the ribbed muscles of his stomach and her eyes slid down.

“Looks like you carry it well,” she observed.

“I work out a lot,” he muttered, trying not to blush deep green.

“Hmm, I can tell,” she murmured, her voice a little husky. “Okay, you can eat, and I’ll sit and enjoy the view.”

“Could I tempt you with a glass of wine at the very least?”

She pursed her lips. “We’re working, Tor.”

“Then we’ll have a working lunch.”

“Oh, you are incorrigible.”

He grinned. “I’ve been called a lot worse.”

“Please don’t enlighten me,” she said, but her tone was airy, flirtatious even, and suddenly he felt like a gauche orc teen trying to impress the girl of his dreams. He racked his brains, trying to work out how to reply without seeming lewd and uncouth. Luckily, Shona spoke before he could embarrass himself. “Go on then, lead the way. I’m not very good on uneven surfaces. Too used to wearing high heels, I guess.”

He relished the way she slid her small hand into his without hesitation and let him lead her back down the rocky path to the pools. Soon they were on the rocky ledge again, next to biggest pool with the highest falls.

“Oh, that water looks so inviting,” she sighed.

“Want to take a dip?”

Her eyes flew to his face.

“I won’t look, promise.” Ye gods, he’d have to discipline himself to fulfil that promise. “And… I actually brought a couple of towels.” He patted the rucksack.

She cocked a perfect eyebrow at him. “You didn’t tell me to bring a swimsuit.”

“You’re right, I didn’t.” He wondered indeed what his motivations had been in bringing the towels.

“But oh my, it does look gorgeous.” She eyed the water eagerly.

“How about I hide behind the ledge, you get in the water and then when you’re in, I’ll dive in. That way I won’t see a thing.”

“Hmmm, you say that, but that water looks crystal clear to me.”

“What do you take me for, a pervy green orc?”

“Possibly.” But she was dimpling now, well and truly, and as her eyes drifted back to the water, he could see them fill with longing. “Okay, I’ll do it. But you have to promise to turn your back until I’m in the water.”
