Min felt another jerk of his wing around her shoulders. Out the corner of her eye, she saw his tail twitch. After last night’s embarrassment with his tail, they’d agreed to go slow with that.

“Ah, well, you wouldn’t want us to tell you all our secrets, would you?” Ethan said. “Oh wait, yeah, you would—you’re the press.” He rubbed a hand up his jaw in good-natured mockery, and everyone laughed.

“Right now, we’re taking it slow,” Min said coyly.

“Well, you sure haven’t taken it slowly so far. One minute Ethan Blade is the most eligible bachelor in town and the next, here you are, all loved up and committed,” the lynx said.

“Yeah, I won’t deny that. When you find the one… it kind of hits you right between the eyes,” Ethan said. “Though we have actually been dating secretly for the past seven months.”

Min stayed very still. It sounded so… genuine. He said it with so much emotion, his blue eyes gazing down at her intensely. So real, in fact, that she could hear some sighs among the assembled paparazzi as they closed their notebooks and brought out cameras with huge lenses.

Afterwards, they smiled and posed, his wing around her, his tail hovering as if he was dying to wrap it around her.

“Lovely, that’s right, heads together. Maybe a bit closer. Kiss for me,” said a fae photographer.

Ethan drew back, hesitating, his look questioning. She gave him the tiniest nod, hoping the pack of journalists hadn’t witnessed their wordless exchange.

She let her eyelids flutter shut and parted her lips slightly as the sweet, warm scent of him drew close.

And then, just like last night, his mouth found hers, gentle and oh so soft, and as she pursed her lips, she sensed him draw in a breath and found herself pressing her lips to his, seeking more. The pressure of his mouth intensified; she put a hand up to his cheek and felt the softness, the slight sharp scrape of his scales. His lips firmed against hers and her mouth opened wider. For a moment they stayed like that, and Min felt like a bee caught in a honey pot as silky warmth swirled between her legs. The big hand that had been lightly cupping her waist tightened, as if wanting to draw her closer, and heavens, she wanted that, wanted to lose herself in his kiss, feel his tongue sweep into her mouth.

Suddenly Min was aware of the busy click of cameras.

This was not real.

They were just acting.

Min drew away, still tasting his warm sweetness, her body still betraying her arousal.

She didn’t dare look at him.

The photographers started to put away their cameras, and a few journalists applauded.

Oh gosh. How embarrassing, the way she’d responded so ardently. She wanted to cross her legs to stop her body’s reaction.

Neatly, she tugged her skirt over her knees instead.

Ethan had dropped his hand from her waist, unfurled his wing from her shoulder. He stood abruptly, and she couldn’t help noticing the sharp twitch of his tail.

An erogenous zone for dragons.

Was he affected by their kiss too?

“I have a meeting to get to, so if you will excuse us…” He held out his hand and Min dutifully slid hers into it. His grip was firm, intimate and a little possessive, and oh goddess, she loved it.

The journalists thanked them and started to leave.

As Ethan swept along the corridor, Min had to hurry to keep up.

But as soon as they were out of sight, he dropped her hand. Min swallowed back her disappointment.

But when he glanced down at her, his eyes were twinkling. “I thought we made a great team.”

“Yes, I think we pulled it off. And, um, you touching me was perfectly okay.”

“Hmmm, that’s not the greatest compliment I’ve ever had.”

She was silent, her heart pounding. If she went on instinct, she’d respond by reaching up and pulling him down into another kiss. Longer this time.
