Drake turns us slightly without breaking his stride. My gaze lines up with the collection of ambulances still parked to the side of the hotel entrance. Felicia sits in the back of one of them, maybe even the same one that I had vacated. Relief relaxes my shoulders as a wave of exhaustion rolls over me. I might just fall asleep the moment that he finally puts me down.

“That’s nice,” I mumble against Drake’s chest as my eyes drift closed again.

Now that I’m buzzed, and the crisis is over, it’s hard to remember why I’d been so convinced something bad happened to Felicia. One of the guys probably dropped a cigarette into the trash can without bothering to make sure it was all the way out first.

The alcohol-soaked part of my brain is convinced there isn’t anything to worry about. And the rest of me is desperate enough to believe it.

I’m already half-asleep when Drake lays me gently down on a soft surface. From the scent of my body wash in the sheets, I know it’s my bed. I snuggle into the bedding with a sigh of relief. It feels so good not to be upright anymore. My eyes drift closed, so it takes another few seconds for me to realize that Drake hasn’t laid down next to me and is shifting away from the bed.

My hand reaches out for him in the dark. “Stay…”

He presses a kiss to my forehead, but then slips out of the loose grip I have on his arm. “Go to sleep. I need to make sure everything is settled with Felicia.”

I still don’t understand why he keeps their relationship such a secret. Most people would fawn all over her, just for the chance to get on Drake’s good side. And if they see him carrying her into the hotel like he did me, they’re not going to assume that the relationship is familial.

“Don’t give anybody the wrong idea,” I snort into the pillow. “People are going to think you’re boning your sister if you’re not careful.”

He smacks me hard on the ass, spurring a laughing shriek before I roll over so he can’t do it again. There is a note of amusement in his voice. “That’s enough out of you. Go to sleep.”

“Are you coming back?”

“Are you going to behave?”

“Probably not.”

“I’ll still be back.” He gives my body one last caress before going to the door. “And you’d better be asleep or I’ll make you regret it.”

I roll over, a delicious sort of burn on my skin where he spanked me.

“Promises promises.”

Chapter Twenty-Six

I’m saved another trip out in the cold by Anya of all people. She and Felicia are getting on another elevator across from me as I come out onto the main floor.

Anya’s tired expression morphs into one of annoyance when she sees me coming. Her hand moves to the wall of buttons and she frantically pushes one.

I stride across the hallway, diving into the elevator just as the doors slide closed. My gaze flits over Felicia to assure myself she’s okay, but I don’t let it linger for too long in case Anya notices. “Some kid pushed every button in mine. Thanks for holding this one.”

Anya glares at me, her finger still smashed on the door close button. “I wasn’t.”

I have to give her points for dedication. It might annoy me that Anya thinks she can get away with being openly rude, but I’m happy that Gigi has someone who is firmly on her side. Gigi might have forgiven me for that stunt with the sextape, but Anya has made it very clear that she has not and probably never will.

Doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy fucking with her just a little.

“Thanks anyway,” I reply lazily. My gaze skates over her as Anya shifts to stand as far from me as the small space will allow. The gray sweatpants she wears are at least two sizes too big, with the waist folded over a few times so they won’t fall down. A grim smile plays on my lips because I know exactly who they actually belong to. “In a hurry when you got dressed?”

She follows the path of my gaze down to her pants, cheeks coloring a bright pink. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“You must have been really worried about the fire if you grabbed the wrong pants on your way out.”

“Shut up.”

“I really hope Cole is running around here in one of your skirts. I’d love to see that.”

Anya tries hard not to seem embarrassed despite the obvious blush. “Everyone has their kinks.”

“I’m sure I’ll hear all about it.” I let a note of malicious amusement enter my voice. “You know how guys like to talk about their conquests.”
