“I know.” Gianni paused, only responding to the latter portion of my rant while scratching his head. “I can’t fault you for that, but your bodyguard ain’t gone let shit happen to you. Trust me.”

“Bodyguard,” I chuckled, and he grinned. “I suppose that’s you?”

“Goddamn right. It better not be anybody else.”

“Why not? It’s not like any of this is real anyway,” I stated, appraising his body language as I awaited a response. I would never have sex with somebody else while carrying his child, which is why I was a horny mess now, but I was sure Gianni was fucking somebody else since he wasn’t fucking me.

“Don’t make me turn this bitch upside down, and I haven’t even brushed my teeth yet.”

“I know you don’t know me well, but I wouldn’t do that. At least not while I’m pregnant.”

“Hailo,” The way he said my name was a warning, but according to Sadie, my mouth always got me in trouble.

“So you mean to tell me you haven’t fucked anybody?” My brow hiked, awaiting his bullshit answer.

“Not since I chased your ass down. No, I haven’t.”

“I don’t believe that.”

“I don’t expect you to after what you’ve been through, but I’m not Marcel. You got an extra toothbrush around here?” he asked, standing up and stretching his arms to the ceiling. My eyes trailed down to his soldier, standing at full salute. I couldn’t help but lick my lips, thinking of things that got me in trouble. “Maybe you haven’t been fucking anybody else,” he smirked, amused at my celibacy.

“There’s an extra toothbrush in the hall closet,” I walked into the bathroom and began going through my morning routine while trying to erase the image of Gianni’s hard dick floating through my head.

While he was roaming around the closet, I brushed my teeth when Sadie's name popped up on my phone. I knew she was about to fuss.

“Good morning, my love.”

“Hailo,” she gritted, and I knew I was in for her mouth the moment I swiped right.

“I’m sorry. The day got away from me, and I forgot.”

“You have more excuses than a trifling nigga lately. You know that?”

“Pregnancy brain. It’s hard to remember everything.” I glared at Gianni standing beside me because he was supposed to remind me to call her. I was busy carrying his child, and it was sucking up all my memory cells. Gianni didn’t pay me any mind walking behind me and out of the bathroom.

“Who is that?” Sadie questioned.

“Nobody.”

“I know a chiseled chest when I see one. Is that Gianni?” Sadie’s brow raised in amusement at how annoyed and embarrassed I was.

“Hey, mama,” Gianni spoke up, causing me to jump. I didn’t even hear him coming back as he leaned into the camera, greeting Sadie while I remained with my eyes closed, hoping I would disappear.

“Nice to meet you, Gianni.”

“Stop saying his name like that,” I grimaced at the unnecessary rhythm in her cadence.

“It’s nice to meet you too,” he grinned, draping his arm around my neck. “I’d love to meet you in person. Maybe we can set up a date for dinner, all three of us.”

“Well, if you’re not busy later, maybe we can go to dinner. All three of us,” Sadie suggested.

“Gi has a lot on his plate today but soon.”

“I can make time,” Gianni cut in, refusing the out I had given us.

“Sounds like a plan. I’ll be looking forward to it,” Sadie agreed, and I wanted to vomit.

“I have to get ready for work. I’ll call you later,” I interjected.
