Fuck him and his needs.

Fuck him. That’s exactly what I wanted to spend the evening doing. It was hard not to think about it. He made the simplest tasks look sexy, like how he lazily gripped the wheel as he drove us to dinner. I hated how fine he looked with a fresh edge up. The top of his shirt was unbuttoned, exposing his muscular chest and putting the chains around his neck on display. They weren’t big and gaudy like he belonged in a music video, but how the diamonds shined in the darkness let me know they cost much money.

We arrived at an Italian restaurant, and I quickly grabbed lipstick from my clutch to hide my smile. My love for pasta was one of the details I shared with him during our walk yesterday. His attention to detail was cute, but he wasn’t off the hook that easily.

“Mr. Meraux, I haven’t seen you in a while.” The hostess greeted him with a hug. “And you brought company this time. Nice, I was getting tired of you eating alone. You are beautiful.”

“Thank you,” I replied while Gianni proudly snaked his arm around my waist.

“It has been a minute. How are you and the family, Nina?”

“We’re all doing great. Let me get you guys a table.”

Nina double-checked the hostess stand before motioning us to follow her through the restaurant to a private dining room, and I shouldn’t have been surprised. “How’s this?”

“Perfect. Thank you,” Gi smiled and pulled out my chair, and I hesitated to sit.

“You look beautiful,” he complimented.

“I know.”

“Aite Lo, get your shit off so we can enjoy the rest of the night,” he replied, which I wasn’t expecting. I was used to Marcel dodging serious subjects, not walking into them head-on.

“I thought you didn’t like arguing?”

“We’re not about to argue. You’re going to speak your peace like an adult.”

“The audacity of you to ask your baby mama to move into the same room you’ve been fucking other bitch’s in.”

“You’re my fiancée, and I haven’t fucked anybody in my house since you left.”

“Condom wrappers don’t fall out of the sky, Gi.”

The smug grin on his face made me regret that I didn’t tear his shit up like I wanted to.

“The last time I used a condom was before I met you. After that, the only woman I’ve been with is Kyerra.” My mind was spinning, and Gi recognized it, nipping my thought in the bud. “You’re a smart woman Hailo. I didn’t use one with you. Do you really believe I was using condoms with my lady?”

“Then where did it come from?”

“Kyerra.”

“So she was in your house?”

“Yeah. We argued about you before she stormed upstairs to get her stuff.”

“Why were y’all arguing about me?”

“You took her nigga, so she’s not happy with you or me. She probably left that shit so you would trip like you’re doing right now,” Gianni replied, casually skimming the menu like my feelings weren’t a big deal.

“You seem calm.”

“A man who tells the truth doesn’t mind being questioned. A liar does, and I don’t have shit to lie about. Any more questions before we move on to more important shit?”

Rolling my eyes, I picked up the menu, using it to hide my expression. “Important stuff like what, Gianni.”

“Come on. You can’t say my name like that, looking as good as you look.”

“Focus,” I ordered, squeezing my thighs together.
