“Fuck you.”

“Have you guys thought about baby names?” Niyomi asked.

“With so much other stuff to figure out, baby names are at the bottom of the priority list.”

“Don’t stress, Lo. Focus on what you have. Right now, that’s a man willing to step up for you and the baby.”

“You ready to roll?” Gi asked, standing in the doorway of his bedroom, and I nodded before focusing back on the camera.

“I’ll call y’all later.”

“You better be lucky I halfway like you moving my God baby away from me,” Denim fussed.

“Damn, what about me?” I joked, but Denim picked up on the sarcasm in my tone.

“Girl, what about you? It’s about our God baby now,” Denim chuckled, batting her eyes as if my question was asinine.

“Y’all are welcome anytime,” Gi responded the same way he always did to Denim’s outbursts.

“We love you boo,” Niyomi spoke up.

“Love y’all too.” Disconnecting the call, I climbed off the bed to go to dinner at his parents’ home.

It was the last thing I wanted to spend my day doing. My mind was clouded with decisions that needed to be made, but I had no idea what to do. Grabbing my purse, we slipped into the car, and most of the drive was quiet except for music playing.

“It’s not going to be that bad,” Gianni offered, picking up on my hesitation.

“Huh?”

“You look like you’re about to go to the electric chair or something.”

“This feels like the equivalent.”

“Are you always this dramatic, or just the hormones?”

“Always. Just let me get it out. It usually only lasts ten minutes or so.”

“Thanks for letting me know.”

“Welcome.”

“You know I’d never let anything happen to you.”

“Thanks, Gi.”

“You’re welcome, Pretty Lady.”

“Why do you keep calling me that?”

“It’s not official until you have a nickname, right?”

“You’re so annoying.”

“You smiled, so it worked.” Gi was right, and I hated how he could make me smile even when I didn’t want to, like now.

I had never wanted to punch someone and trust them at the same damn time.

The remainder of the ride, he filled me in on his family, from his mother, who was so excited to meet me, to his Aunt Mia, who was the nicest person he’d ever met. Then there was his Aunt Sophia, who could be a bitch sometime. I told him I wouldn’t spare her if she started with me, and I meant that.
