Then again, most people didn’t want to get on the bad side of the Merauxs, so they’d keep their mouths shut because even trying to help could be seen as risky.

“Too many days have passed. Niggas got twenty-four more hours before I turn shit upside down. I’m tired of playing,” I warned, and Morgan agreed.

“I’m on whatever you’re on.”

“Cool. I got some errands to run. Can you take Bella some food?”

“I hit her earlier, and she said she didn’t need anything,” Morgan complained as I dumped my plate in the sink.

“I guess she changed her mind. I need you to handle that for me.”

I could hear Morgan complaining in the distance as I headed for my bedroom. Solana was packing some of my stuff because the house was nearly finished, and I couldn’t wait.

“I don’t like your brother,” she fussed, glaring at me like I did it.

“Mo earned that one today. I’ll talk to him.”

“Which only makes me more nervous to meet the rest of your family,” Solana confessed.

“Who said you were meeting the rest of them?” Her neck rolled to the side, daring me to try her again. “I’m fuckin’ with you, but don’t worry about that.”

“How can I not?”

“Because it’s me and you, regardless of how anybody feels about it. Unless you’re switching up on me,” I peeped out of the closet to read her expression.

“Never.”

“Good. I need a favor.”

“I’m listening.”

I dropped the bag on the bed. “Take this to the bank for me.”

“Okay,” she replied until she looked in the bag, and her eyes flipped at me.

“What’s wrong?”

“This is a lot of money.”

“I know,” I chuckled, stepping into my jeans. “You, of all people, shouldn’t look surprised by that.”

“Real funny. You trust me with all this?” Solana flipped a stack through her fingers before dropping it in the bag.

“Is it a reason I shouldn’t?”

“N-No,” she stammered.

“Good. You’re stuck with me, so you better trust me back.”

“Would I be here if I didn’t?” Solana asked.

“It’s the final payment on your house, so if you want somewhere to put all that shit you’ve been ordering, make sure you get that to the bank before five.”

“Why do you have to say it like that?”

“Like the truth?”

“It’s our house,” Solana corrected.
