“Bye, Gianni.”

“Love you, Lo.”

“I love you too.” Hanging up the phone, I hauled myself to the shower to send my baby a little motivation to make it home tonight.

Chapter Twenty

“Do we need to reschedule date night?” Solana asked, trying her best to be supportive, but my baby was looking forward to it, and so was I.

“No, this won’t take long.”

“Quest,” she mumbled, watching me get dressed to meet Morgan.

“I thought Princesses liked being spoiled.”

Solana’s eyes narrowed to the point they were damn near closed. She said she was going to a meeting with the girls but stumbled in the crib an hour ago, smelling like liquor.

“I want you safe more than I want to be spoiled. I don’t need you distracted trying to get back to me.”

“One person’s distraction is another man’s motivation.”

“I’m serious, Quest,” she whined, hitting her fist on the bed.

“Nah, your ass is drunk,” I chuckled, helping her out of her clothes because I could tell from her wobbly movements she couldn’t on her own, “So take a nap and then get your pretty ass up and get ready for date night.”

“You’re up to something.”

Solana was intoxicated and still knew me like the back of her hand. Tonight was the night. The ring was burning a hole in the safe, and I needed to get it off my hands. I could’ve just given it to her, but I wanted this moment to be special.

“Taking care of you is all I’m up to.” I thumbed her cheek and kissed her lips. “Now, lay down.”

I’d fuss about her driving drunk later, but right now, I had something important to handle so that I could handle her later. Under normal circumstances, I didn’t care what Solana did, but today, I preferred her sober. Especially knowing what I was about to do.

Bella had left the hotel, and I had eyes all over the city looking for her. She wanted me to believe she was pissed off because I moved on, but this shit was all a part of her plan. Bella and her brother had been playing us the entire time. They almost got away with it until Wes showed his face to the camera.

I had watched the security tape so many times I almost missed it. The moment I saw his face, I knew what was going on. I went to confront Bella about it, but she had left the hotel room with all of her shit.

“Have you given Solana the ring yet?” Morgan asked after he’d finished preparing his gun for the adventure ahead.

“Mind your business,” I replied, never taking my eyes off the road.

“Oh, so we keeping secrets now? I’m hurt, bro, real fuckin’ hurt.” Morgan’s stupid ass sat in the passenger seat, wiping fake tears.

“It’s not a secret. It’s just not your business. You don’t fuck with Solana anyway.”

“Who else are you going to tell? I’m all you’ve got,” Morgan shrugged.

“Unlike you, Talking Timothy, I’m good with keeping shit to myself.”

“Who the fuck is Timothy?” Morgan asked, missing the point. Pulling up at the apartment complex, we parked across the street and turned the lights off. “Is it a reason you haven’t told Mama about Solana yet?”

“Are y’all keeping tabs on my personal life now?”

“She mentioned you haven’t been to the house and asked if a woman has been keeping you busy. Lucky for you, I’m solid, so I didn’t sell you out.”

“My personal life isn’t her business either.”

“You sure you’re not?—.”
