“The pool?”
“Get in,” I say to her, nodding at the crystal-clear blue waters.
“No way,” she replies. “It’ll be so cold.”
“Fine, then,” I retort, shrugging. “If you won’t, I will.”
I simply strip off my clothes, ripping off my shirt, pants, and immediately plunging into the cold waters. Its temperature doesn’t faze me in the slightest. It’s so refreshing. The cake mix washes away from my face.
I swim into the middle of the pool and spin in the water to look at Emma standing at the edge.
“It’s nice,” I say. “You should join me.”
The girl shakes her head.
“Nope, I’m not coming in.”
“That’s a shame. You need to cool down.”
Before she has a chance to get away, I’m splashing Emma with a wave of cold water. The girl shrieks at getting wet and then jumps into the pool. I laugh as Emma makes her way up to the surface.
“That was unfair,” she cries.
But before she has a chance to berate me further, I’m already kissing her.
And she kisses me back.
And then we’re floating to the edge of the pool, our lips still locked. She tastes sweet.
