“They’re all welcome. We just didn’t prepare for that,” Eve said, looking worried. “I guess everyone else you’ve invited will be here by Friday for your wild bachelor party.”

“If not before.” I knew the problem was Eve felt uncomfortable having some of Hallow’s best friends from Charleston at the wedding. “Invite Alexa and Andi to your party. You like ‘em,” I said, speaking of Murder and Viking’s women.

Eve nodded, then she studied my swollen face. “Maybe it’ll heal before Saturday morning.” Her mind was stuck on wedding plans.

My ol’ lady left me sitting with Pagan and Murder to watch the fight. When I saw her again that night, she was fast asleep, Angel beside her. I put the baby in her crib and snuggled close to Eve.

She stirred.

“We good?” I asked, spooning her.

“Mmm hmm,” she droned, pressing her body into mine.

“You up for some lovin’?” I said, as my hands started roaming.

“Oh, yes, please,” she breathed.

We made love like we had so many times, losing ourselves in each other until sleep claimed us, but unlike before, even with Eve half asleep, I wore a condom, like she wanted me to, so we didn’t have another baby right away.

Naturally, I thought that would be the end of any fightin’. But the rest of the week was nothing but drama.

Eve and I quarreled every night about something or other. About the wedding, my swollen face, her dad not being there to escort her to the altar, my bachelor party the boys were cookin’ up to be unforgettable. The fact Hob was gone again without even saying goodbye, like it was my doing.

I reminded myself, my wife was super stressed keeping our two and Little Johnny and preparing the final touches to our wedding. And she always gave in, made love to me every damn night. Hell, even in the morning, I’d find her stroking my cock, twirling its ring around her tongue. Even with the squabbling, we were at it like rabbits. Seemed getting drunk the other week had opened the floodgates and the raging waters of renewed lust roared in.

The only break in our bickering was at Prince’s birthday party at the zoo. The little guy loved animals, and Eve wouldn’t agree to get him a puppy, not yet, so I figured the trip would hold him off a bit longer. My ol’ lady and I were both on our best behavior as our pride and joy turned two. That night Prince, Angel and Johnny were worn out, fast asleep at Haven’s as I prepared for my bachelor party, and Eve got ready for her own celebration.

Yawning, I wasn’t doing much better. I chugged a Red bull so I wouldn’t doze off at the bar.

In my leathers and cut, I dressed pretty much as I always did. Putting on all the jewelry was second nature, like putting on a uniform. Eve though, always surprised me. Tonight, with her long blonde hair blown out and painted face, she was a knockout as usual. But she wore a short denim skirt and red leather corset with her matching red cowboy boots like no one’s business. It being Valentine’s tomorrow, I noticed the subtle hearts on her outfit and the heart-shaped purse with the silver studs.

If my ol’ lady bothered with a purse, she was going out, way out. As in outside the confines of the club, Royal Road or the Eagles’ Nest.

“Damn, Love, where you goin’ all gussied up?” I didn’t even know where Eve and the ol’ ladies were headed tonight. Taking her hips, I brought her body against mine. I knew better than to kiss her bright red lipstick off. Leaning down, I nibbled at her porcelain neck. She’d even put on her expensive perfume.

“Oh, Celie invited me to do a few shows at Bootsie’s so we’re going to head to Broadway tonight and scope it out.”

My eyes met hers in a flash. “The hell you are,” I barked automatically. “It’s too dangerous. Remember, Noah Fond has it out for you.”

“It’s been years,” she shot back, slipping away from me. In the mirror, she put on big heart-shaped earrings. “Nothing’s going to happen, Beau. I sing all over Nashville, going alone, mind you, no one to protect me, and nothing happens.”

“Alone? I always send someone to keep an eye on you,” I said, confused.

Crossing her arms, Eve huffed. She hadn’t realized a biker followed her ‘round. She didn’t like that either.

I ran a hand through my hair. “I can’t win for losing. But one thing’s for certain. You’re not going to Bootsie’s tonight.”

“Yes, I am. You’re having your stag party at Royal Road, and I’ve not complained,” she had the audacity to say.

“Bullshit, you’ve not complained… Have we been on different planets? It’s all you’ve bitched about all week. You say I can look but not touch, remember?”

“Bitch?” she juddered out.

“Bitched. I said you bitched,” I said, catching her eyes in the mirror.

“You’re calling me a bitch. The mother of your kids.” Her eyes shot daggers back.

Putting my hands on her shoulders, I started rubbing as if I was taming a tiger who was about to eat me. “Nah, you’re not putting that evil on me, Love. I did not…” But then I got cocky. “So, you didn’t lay down your rules for me, huh? Good to know.”
