She told them about her hookup in the cabana with Brian, leaving out a few key factors—like his identity and exactly where she’d run into her ‘mystery masked man.’ She didn’t know if Avery would put two and two together since she and Nick had run into Brian right after, but the more she could do to avoid that risk, the better.

“So, you don’t need to worry about me.”

“Are you going to see him again?” Avery asked, looking a little starry-eyed. “What’s he look like? I mean, even with the mask, he can’t have covered everything. Was he white? Black? Brown? Long hair, short hair?”

Rae shrugged, keeping it noncommittal. There was no way she was going to start trying to describe someone. The last thing she needed was for them to find a masked man running around the resort who actually fit the description. That would be worse than if they couldn’t find one.

“Maybe. I’m not going to tie myself down to one mystery man, though. Maybe I’ll run into him again tonight, maybe I’ll find someone else to scene with, maybe I’ll just watch a scene.” She looked around at her friends, loving them with all her heart for their desire to do right by her and wishing that maybe they were a little less invested in that. “The main thing is that I do not want to take away from anyone else’s vacation. I’m fine, I promise you. And I will find a scene or a hookup a lot easier if I’m not surrounded by three other incredibly hot women, especially if they bring all their men along with them.”

Silence fell over the table as her friends considered her words. She thought it was a pretty good point. After a moment, Iris snickered.

“We are all pretty hot. We don’t want to be a distraction.”

“Seriously, it’s been a problem in the past when a guy would meet Domi and me at the same time.” Rae laughed. “They’d get so confused about which one of us they wanted to go after. We’d whisper, ‘stay on target’ to each other when we saw it start to happen.”

“Did they?” Avery asked.

“Rarely.” Domi laughed. “Mitch did. But I think it was different with him and the rest of those guys because they were all leading a class with us as the students. They all got hands-on time with both of us.”

“Honestly, I thought Kincaid and Domi were going to hook up for a bit,” Rae admitted. “I did not see her and Mitch coming.”

“Yeah, and I thought Rae and Brian were definitely going to end up together, but here we are.” Domi shrugged while Rae did her best to hide her wince as her ass clenched around the plug again.

Yeah, here they were.

“What else is going on? I’ve spilled what I’ve been up to. What about you all? Anything particularly juicy?” She winked at Domi, who laughed and obliged by telling them about a medical scene she and Mitch had done last night. Working as a nurse in real life, Mitch was really good at playing doctor. Domi had gotten a very thorough exam.

Avery and Nick had apparently watched a demonstration on cupping. Nick was newer to kink than the other Doms—in fact, Avery was the experienced one in their relationship—but he was eager to learn. Cupping did sound interesting, though not really something Rae was necessarily interested in.

“They had some violet wand attachments here that Law hasn’t used before, so we played with those, of course,” Iris said, eyes sparkling when it was her turn. She lowered her voice, glancing around. “That’s not the big news though. We both got phone calls today. Mistress Julie’s secret admirer sent a present to her house, and Law is totally freaking out.”

“Ohhh… I would be freaking out, too,” Avery said, putting her hand on her chest with wide eyes. “He knows where she lives?”

“Apparently. I called Sam to find out what’s going on because Law went into hyperactive protective mode. Sam’s been hanging out with the Dommes sometimes lately, so I thought she might know what’s going on. She said Julie’s nervous but not scared.” Iris shrugged. “She hasn’t been in the club all week. She’s taking a break since there are no classes, and apparently, it was the one-year anniversary of the first present she got. She thinks that’s why they sent it to her home because they didn’t want to miss the anniversary.”

They all thought about that for a moment.

“That is either the sweetest or creepiest thing I’ve ever heard,” Domi finally said. “I can’t decide which.”

“I think it depends on who the secret admirer is.” Rae shifted in her chair, hiding her wince at the way the plug shifted inside her. Dammit Brian. “Did you ever see that meme going around the internet about how Christian Grey was only a hero because he was a sexy millionaire? Like, there’s such a thing as book-hot, which is very different from real-life-hot.”

“True, but how crazy would you have to be to be a creeper with a Dominatrix? Especially because the admirer is clearly submissive.” Iris shook her head. It was a good point. “Like, sure, your biggest fantasy could be being punished, but talk about taking risks.”

“I just want to know why go the secret admirer route?” Avery said, taking a sip of her drink. “It feels very high school.”

“It must be someone who thinks their crush would be rejected. Maybe that it wouldn’t even be acceptable,” Rae mused, thinking through possible motivations in her head. It was one of the things she loved to do and probably why she’d ended up becoming an author. She liked to try to figure out what made people tick, why they did the things they did. “Mistress Julie is straight, right? Maybe the admirer is a woman.”

“Maybe they’re nonbinary… maybe it’s Emery,” Iris suggested.

Rae considered that for a moment.

“I feel like Emery is too outspoken for that. They go after what they want, and they’re not quiet about it,” she said. Though, sometimes, even the most confident people kept secrets.

“That’s a good point.” Iris leaned back in her chair, sipping her water thoughtfully, as though she was trying to think of more options.

“Maybe they’re a Dominant.” Domi laughed. “That would be a good reason not to reveal themselves. They admire from afar but don’t say anything because they don’t want to submit. Or a switch, and they know she wouldn’t go for being a sub.”

“Maybe it’s someone who’s a friend and is afraid of ruining the friendship.” Rae’s brain was churning with possibilities now. She hadn’t given it a lot of focused thought before, though, of course, she’d wondered from time to time. Everyone who knew about Mistress Julie’s admirer must have thought about it every now and then. “Ooooh… or someone she doesn’t get along with, and it’s like an enemies-to-lovers kind of thing.”
