I nodded and set the brush on the counter so I could wrap my arms around her. "I do, baby girl. I've loved you for months now. I don't expect you to say it back, but you should know how I feel."

Jess shook her head, rising to her tiptoes and pressing her lips to mine all too briefly before drawing back. "I love you too, Miles Villanueva."

"You're making me the happiest fucking guy on the planet right now." I kissed her again, taking her mouth in a slow, passionate tangle of lips and tongues. My hands dipped down to grab her ass, and I lifted her up to sit on the counter.

She drew back, her gaze dancing over my face. "You're making me the happiest girl. Now, I need to get dressed and ready if I'm going to make it downstairs."

"If I must," I sighed, kissing her again. "Get all your stuff packed up too. We'll get it in your car and hit the road when we're done with brunch."

Jess gave me a smile so bright it would have melted an iceberg. "Yes! I need to meet Ares."

I shook my head and laughed as I strode out of the bathroom, leaving her to finish getting dressed.

Thirty minutes later, I held her hand as we entered the elevator and went to the lobby. She was fiddling with the edge of her sleeves, then the pockets of her dress.

"Hey." I turned her and squeezed her upper arms. "There's nothing to be nervous about, got it?"

"My anxiety has been bad this weekend." She closed her eyes and nibbled on her bottom lip. "As you know, the cause of the panic attack from yesterday.

I nodded before leaning forward and kissing her forehead. “I’ve got you, okay?”

“Thank you,” she replied and leaned into me. “I know people will ask questions.”

“So?” I tipped her chin back up. “We answer them. We tell the truth. We’ve been friends for months, and now we’re together.”

I didn’t want her to be embarrassed by our new relationship. I can’t wait to explore more of our lives together. Fuck anyone who wanted to judge us.

A smile spread over her face, and she wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me down for a kiss.

A throat cleared, and I released Jess with an exaggerated sigh, not realizing theelevator doors had slid open.

Hope and Tessa were waiting on the other side, grinning like loons as we stepped out.

“Morning,” Jess muttered, heat blazing over her cheeks as she sipped her coffee cup.

“Good morning.” Hope waggled her eyebrows. "I can tell someone has been having fun."

"Hope," I warned. "Don't tease Jess too much." I wrapped my arm around her shoulders and kept her close to my side as we made our way through the lobby.

"But it's so fun. I've been waiting for this to happen forever." She pursed her lips, almost into a pout.

Tessa shook her head and rolled her eyes. "Just leave her alone. I've been waiting for them both to get a clue, too, but I'm not teasing." She stuck her tongue out at Hope, who flipped her off.

"Children, please." I used my best alpha commanding voice on them.

Jess stumbled beside me before turning those baby blues up at me with heat blazing in them. "You have to stop it with that voice. I'm only so strong."

I chuckled and my lips turned up in a devilish smirk. Bending low, I pressed my lips to her ear. "I know, that's why I used it," I said, using the same voice as before.

"So unfair."

CHAPTER EIGHT

JESSIKA

Two Months Later

"Ah," I squealed and laughed as Ares attacked my face with kisses. "Ares, stop!"
