“C’mon, let’s go before we get teased even more.” He sneers at her.

The Q&A portion of the panel has begun. We’ve all introduced ourselves and given a snippet of our newest releases to the readers.

“Ryan.” Someone from the audience says. “What’s your proudest moment?”

“Personally, or here in the book world?” He leans into his mic and asks.

She shrugs and answers with “Both.”

“Well.” He sits straight in his chair and looks over to me. “I’d have to say that my proudest moment was when Callie became my wife.” He sends me a wink. He’s such a charmer.

The same blushes in awe and then asks me the same question. “Callie, how about you. What’s your proudest moment?”

“Well…” I sit back for a second and think long and hard. Ryan, who’s sitting to my right is waiting for an answer as well. “I think it’s getting warm in here.” I admit. While I begin to unbutton my flannel, I continue. “I’ve had many proud moments. One was when Sherry dragged me to Hawaii. That was a proud moment. Then of course, becoming Mrs. Hayfield. But I think my proudest moment is yet to come.” Just as I say that the audience picks up on my signal. They begin chattering and clapping.

Ryan looks confused and doesn’t know what’s going on. Now the crowd is going completely insane. Deciding to put him out of his misery, I turn to face him. His confusion shifts as he realizes what I’ve done. Underneath my flannel, I had Sherry custom make a t-shirt. On it was an arrow pointing towards Ryan. Just above it says. “He’s going to be a daddy.” His eyes read my shirt and then shift to my face before reading my shirt a few more times.

“Is that what I think it says?” He asks. The audience is cheering and clapping even harder at this point. I nod. His eyes gloss over, and he swallows a few times. I think I’ve left him speechless. “I’m going to be a dad?” I nod again, wiping a tear from my eye. “Seriously?”

“Yes.” I answer and reach in and grab the ultrasound from my handbag. “Baby is due in August.”

“Cal…” He can’t even speak. He drops his head on my chest and starts sobbing. The audience has shifted their cheers to awes. Sharing this moment with them was the perfect thing to do. If it wasn’t for them after all, none of us would be here. “I love you.” He holds onto me tightly. I wrap my arms around him and hold him tightly.

“I love you.” He lifts his head and finally, I can see his tear filled deep blue eyes. “Forever.”

“Forever.” He repeats before kissing me tenderly for all to see.
