Big Tammy left the next day, and I stayed in the infirmary for a week.
That was the day they broke me.

CHAPTER EIGHT
The stranger sits on my bed for several minutes, his head still buried in his hands.
“What’s your name?” I finally ask.
“I’m not supposed to tell you.”
“My name is Susanna.”
He keeps his gaze fixed on the floor. “I know what your name is.”
“Who saw me? Was it you?”
He pauses, but then shakes his head. “It wasn’t me.”
“What is this training for?”
“I honestly don’t know. From what I can gather, the women here are taken to a private island where men can pay for…”
Fear jolts through my already trembling body. “Pay for what? To rape me?”
“It’s far more sinister than that.” This time he raises his head, turns, meets my gaze.
“Please.” I lean toward him and grab his arm, his muscles hard under my touch. “You’ve got to get me out of here.”
“I can’t.” He rises and breaks my grasp. “Take off your clothes now.”
My body betrays me. My nipples harden against the cotton of the tank top. I want to take my tank top off. I want him to see me. But I stay still.
“Strip, or I’ll have to do it for you.”
I swallow as I pull my tank up over my head. My breasts fall against my chest, my nipples sticking straight out. His eyes widen.
Does he like what he sees?
Despite myself, I want him to like what he sees.
If he does, he makes no indication. “Now the rest,” he says.
I slide my thumb under the waistband of the plain white panties that aren’t mine but fit me as if they were. I’ve been here for several days now, and I haven’t had a razor or any other grooming tools, so I’m not bare down there like I usually am.
Still, though, I slide the panties over my hips and down my thighs until they puddle on the floor.
When I step out of them, the stranger gasps in a breath.
So he does like what he sees.
I swallow, trying to calm the shudders that threaten to erupt over my body. “Now what?”
