“Oh.” She looks up at me and smiles. “I guess I shouldn’t wear his jersey to the game this afternoon then.”

“You can do whatever you want, sunshine,” I say, and pull her toward me. It’s reckless to be acting like this where anyone can see us, but I don’t care. “Because you’re mine. At the end of the day, you don’t go home with any of the boys who might try and get your attention. You go home with me.”

Maven hums and rests her hand low on my stomach. I blow out a breath and close my eyes. It’s wild how one touch from her gets me all worked up. “I like when you get like this,” she murmurs. “Like you’d burn the world down for me if I asked.”

“You wouldn’t need me to. I’d just hand you the match and let you do it yourself. But I would. I would, Maven. There’s nothing you could ask for that I wouldn’t do.”

She touches my cheek and drags her thumb down the line of my jaw. “I’m going to remember that.”

“I’ll keep reminding you,” I say, and in a fit of absolute idiocy, I spin her and press her against the wall. I cup the back of her head before it can hit the hard surface, and I kiss her.

I kiss her like my life depends on it and she kisses me back with all of her might. Her hand tangles in my hair and my hand works its way under the skirt that’s been distracting me since she zipped it up this morning, and if this is how we get caught, I’d die a happy fucking man.

“Where’d all your responsibility go?” she asks, and her mouth moves to my neck. She sucks on my skin, and I hiss.

“Out the fucking window. If you see it, can you bring it back to me?”

“No. I like you like this.”

My hand freezes halfway up her leg. “Are you wearing fuckingthigh highs,Maven? When the hell did you put these on?”

“When you weren’t looking.” She bumps her nose against mine and grins. “Do you like them?”

“I’m not sure if I want to get on my knees and worship you or be angry that I have to wait until we get home to have you,” I growl.

“Your knees would be preferable.”

“Stop.” I snap the top of her stockings against her leg and the moan she gives me is soft. “I’m walking away from you now.”

“Okay.”

“Like. Right now.”

“Is that why you’re still holding my ass?” she asks.

I blow out a breath and take three steps back. “I hate that skirt.”

“You do?”

“But I’m going to buy you one in every color. Those stockings too. Max out my credit card, Maven.”

She laughs. “Come on, lone star. Let’s go stand a respectable distance apart and pretend like we’re not sleeping together. It’s going to be a blast.”

I follow her to the kitchen and I’m greeted by a half dozen faces. I recognize most of them, but a few are new to me.

“Hey, y’all,” I say, and I wave to everyone. “Happy Thanksgiving.”

“Happy Thanksgiving, Dallas.” Maggie walks around the kitchen island and kisses my cheek. “We gave June some chocolate milk. Is that okay?”

“That’s perfect, thanks.” I look over and see her sitting on a chair, swinging her legs back and forth. Shawn points out something on the T.V. and she nods before bursting into a fit of giggles. “Let me know if you need me to watch her, Coach.”

He looks at me over his shoulder. “I like her more than I like you, Lansfield.”

“Most people do.” I stick out my arm toward Aiden, Maven’s dad. “Nice to see you again, sir. Thanks for letting us join you.”

“Sir?” he asks, and he shakes my hand. “Do I really look that old?”

“Shoot. No. I didn’t mean it like?—”
