“Hey.” Dallas grabs my wrist, and he tugs me to his chest. “I have something for you.”

“Is it my postcard?” I ask, and I grin up at him. “They’re the only reason why I don’t mind you being gone.”

He shifts June around and reaches into the back pocket of his jeans. He hands me the paper and bends down to kiss me. “I hope you like it. It’s probably my favorite one yet.”

“I have no doubt I will, lone star,” I say against his mouth. “I love you.”

“I love you too, sunshine. Go kick some ass out there.”

“Daddy said ass,” June repeats, and Dallas sighs, defeated.

I laugh and almost skip back to the field as happiness surges through me. I glance down at the note from Dallas, and time stops.
