Damn, he’s sexy.

“I’ll show you in a minute just what kind of action awaits you,” he says smugly. “But it would be bad form if I didn’t do my due diligence first.”

“Geez, how romantic.” I roll my eyes.

“We both know that romance has nothing to do with what we are about to do with each other, so don’t act coy, kitten.” He winks.

I wrap my hands behind my head and hold up my leg for him to grab.

“Fine. Do your due diligence. But you might as well put those hands to use and get me undressed while you talk.”

The corner of his lip lifts as he follows my instructions, running the zipper down my calf and throwing the boot behind his shoulder once he’s done.

“Are you on the pill?” he asks, before kissing my ankle all the way up to my knee.

“I am.”

“Good. When was the last time you were tested?”

“Is this your roundabout way of asking if I’m clean?”

He nods before planting another sweet kiss on my ankle.

“I’ve seen too much not to know that you aren’t very discriminating when it comes to lovers.”

“Good thing I’m not, or you wouldn’t be here,” I rebuke with a teasing grin.

“Fair enough.” He smiles, grabbing my other leg in his large hand to take my boot off. Once he removes it, he places my bare foot right on his chest, running his fingers up and down my calf. “Are you going to answer me, Piper, or will you leave me in suspense all night?”

“I’m Piper now, am I? No longer kitten?” I tease.

“In a second. After we’ve cleared all the house rules.”

“Hmm. That sounds ominous. Are we to have a safe word, too?” I goad, wiggling my toes on his chest.

“Yes,” he deadpans without missing a beat.

My throat instantly dries at the threat in his obsidian eyes while my pussy clenches in delight. I wonder just what kind of kinkery this man has in store for me that requires a safe word.

Either way, I’m all in.

“Very well,” I retort coolly, unwilling to let on that he’s piqued my curiosity. “I got tested a two weeks ago. I’m clean, if that’s your concern.”

“Good.” He smiles, displaying that crooked grin that promises all sorts of trouble. When he starts to loom over me, I shove my bare foot in his chest and push him away.

“Nuh huh.” I shake my head. “Not until you tell me when the last time was that you got tested.”

His wicked smile broadens.

“Probably a year ago.”

“You have got to be shitting me,” I spit out, pulling myself up on the bed by my elbows. “How do you know that you’re not the one with an STD?” I ask, astounded at him for making such a big deal of knowing if I had a clean bill of health while he hasn’t been as meticulous with his testing.

“Because I haven’t been with a woman since then.”

“Bullshit,” I shout, gaining another little chuckle from him.

“You don’t believe me?”
