I'm a fuck of a lot more than that. For her to say that I'm just her boss is like a fucking knife to the gut. She's bloody killing me.

"But you're having a baby?" Evie asks.

"Yeah, honey, I am," Ailbhe says softly. "That's not going to change how much I love you."

The little girl grins widely. "You're the best," she says, pressing a kiss to Ailbhe's cheek.

"Ailbhe," Ruairi growls. "Go sit down. You need to rest. You're not long home from the hospital. You need to take it easy." He pushes past me and takes the little girl from Ailbhe's arms, leaving both Ailbhe and I alone at the door.

"What are you doing here, Preacher? You made your feelings pretty clear to me when I told you about the pregnancy." The sorrow in her voice is yet another slice to my heart. I knew she'd be pissed and hurt, but hearing the pain that I've caused is worse than I could have ever imagined.

"You've been sick," I say.

She raises a brow as she leans against the doorframe. "So I have, but that doesn't explain why you're here."

I run a hand over my face. "I'm sorry," I tell her. "I truly am fuckin' sorry. I never intended to hurt you."

"You were callous, Preacher. I never asked you to do anything or to be involved. You called me a liar," she whispers, tears pooling in her eyes. "You are a dickhead, Preacher, and honestly, I don't really care what you do as long as you do it away from me."

That's never going to happen. She has no idea just how much I want her. The fucked up shit that has happened to me shaped who I am and the reactions that I have. "I needed space?—"

Her laugh is mirthless. "Take all the space you want," she says angrily. "Take as long as you want. Just don't come here. I don't want anything to do with you anymore. Once the baby is born, I won't stop you from seeing him or her, but I don't want any type of relationship with you other than you being the father of my child."

She's dead serious. She's not wavering from this. I've got a lot of groveling to do to make up for this. But I need to know that the baby is mine.

"Inside, Ailbhe," Ruairi growls. "You need to sit down on the sofa and rest."

She sighs but does as her brother tells her. I follow her into the house, and I'm shocked to find all of her siblings sitting around the sitting room waiting for her.

"What's going on, Ailbhe?" her sister Fiona asks her. "Who is he and why is he here?"

Ailbhe sighs. "This is Preacher."

"He's the sperm donor," her younger brother says with a grin.

I hear Pyro cough but I don't turn. I already know the asshole is covering up his laughter. "Damn, bro, you've really fucked up."

"What's a sperm donor?" Evie asks, and that sets Pyro off. The fucker chuckles out loud, which has the kids laughing.

"It doesn't matter, honey. He's not staying. He's going now," Ailbhe tells her as she strokes her hair. "How was school?"

"Good. Fiadh played with me all day."

"That's great, honey. I'm glad you had a good day. Now, I need you and your brother and sisters to go and do your homework."

All the kids get to their feet and do exactly as Ailbhe tells them. "Ruairi will help you, Evie."

"I'll help in a bit, Ev. I want to know what the hell this dick wants."

"Ruairi," Ailbhe hisses. "Language around Evie."

"Why is he here?" Ruairi snaps as he turns to me. "Why?"

"I want to talk with Ailbhe."

"Speak then, Yank," he growls.

"Hey," Ailbhe cries. "Don't do that, Ruairi."
