I wait until she walks past me once more and her back is to me and then I pounce, standing from my chair and grabbing onto the back of it to swing it around my body, hitting Alexandra in the back of the head. I watch as she faceplants to the ground, the fun falling out of her hand and sliding across the floor away from her. Rushing to her side, I kick her in the ribs to make sure she is knocked out before I head to the gun. I'm not going to touch it, I don't want my fingerprints anywhere near it, but I do make sure to kick it across the floor until it slides under a cabinet that has barely any space beneath it. I'll need to remember exactly where I kicked it when I tell the cops what happened, but I don't want to risk Alexandra getting her hands on it before she's arrested.

Rushing back over to her body I check to see if she has a cell phone on her at all. She doesn't go figure. I knew it would be too good to be true if she did. I check the brute's dead body as well just in case but once again no luck.

"Seriously? Why the fuck do neither of these assholes have a cell phone?" I shout, frustrated to all hell. "Come on, Sky, think. What would Knox, Trevor, and Steel tell you to do."

I pause and think about all the training they drilled into each of us employees. "Rope!" I almost shout, spinning in a circle trying to find something, anything, that could be of use. I need to tie her up. Alexandra won't be knocked out forever, and I need to keep her secure. Searching the room, I finally find some cords. They are going to have to work.

With Alexandra already lying on her stomach, I pull her arms until they are behind her back and tie her wrists together. Then I flip her over and pull her into a sitting position. Near where I found the cables was a metal pole, probably for some sort of structural stability. It's stuck in the cement so I knew she'd have no way to pull it out of the ground, which meant no way she would be able to get anywhere. I tie her up around the pole with several different styles of knots that Steel taught me. I wasn't taking any chances.

When I was sure she was secure and not going anywhere, I started looking for the exit to this hell hole. Step one, done. Step two, get back to the hotel and call the cops. I could do this. I would do this. I'm mother fucking Skylar Mason. No one was going to stop me for long.

Following a shit load of twisting hallways, I finally found an exit and rushed outside. She wasn't kidding when she said this place was abandoned on the outskirts of town. There wasn't much around here that I could see, but what was out here? A car. Sitting outside the door was a beat-up old white Chevy work van. Perfect. I learned from Gunner how to hotwire a car in high school. Now, I hope I still remember those skills. Trying the driver's door, it opens easily.

Thank fuck someone was stupid enough to leave the car unlocked.

Reaching down, I pop the bottom of the steering wheel off and begin pulling out the wires that I need. After some finagling, I manage to find the two I need and begin putting them together until I finally hear the engine come to life.

"Yes! Thank you, Gunner, for teaching me. I never thought that skill would come in handy until today," I shout excitedly as I shut the door and put the seatbelt on. Now, to get to the hotel.

I made sure to follow the speed limit when I hit the main road. I didn't want to cause any attention to myself. If a cop pulled me over, I wouldn't care. It'd let me explain everything that happened. But I didn't want to be a menace on the road and give them a reason to take me in when all I was doing was saving myself.

It was a long drive to the hotel, or at least it felt like it was. Should I have driven straight to the police station? Probably. But I was dead on my feet and all I wanted was to sleep. I know the second everyone finds out what happened they will take care of it for me. Gotta love having some powerful friends. Knox can keep the cops busy until I'm awake to answer questions.

Instead of letting the valet park the car and realizing that I don't have any keys, I follow the signs for the parking garage belonging to the hotel and find a space there myself. Since I parked myself I managed to avoid going into the main parts of the hotel to reach the elevators. Each floor has one specifically for maintenance but I use it instead. I'd rather not have people see me like this and ask questions. I know I look like hell. The last thing we need is the press making assumptions about me. No fucking thank you.

The elevator slowly rises to the tenth floor where I knew the guy's room was. It was just a guess that everyone would be in their room. Gunner and Creed would want to stay somewhere that was familiar to them, and where Sebastian would feel in charge. I hide around corners making sure no one is wandering around to see me as I make my way down the hall. When I reach room 1055 I take a deep breath and knock. I know the second the door opens questions are going to be asked of me.

Chapter Thirty-One

Sky had been gone for too long. The other had made Gunner and I stay here under the pretense that we would be a better defense for Emma and Valentina than Steel or Rome. Such a joke. We all knew everyone could take care of themselves besides maybe Emma. That was a big maybe considering who she was married to. There was no way that woman didn't know how to defend herself. The fact that they wouldn't allow Gunner or I with them really just pissed me off, even if Creed went with them. It was bullshit all together.

The group had been gone for hours so when a knock sounded on the door I jumped to my feet figuring that Creed had forgotten his damn key card. I was ready to rip them all a new one to keep us waiting when I opened the door.

"Sky?" I called out in disbelief. There was no way my Princess was standing right here in front of me. How the fuck was this possible?

"Hi, Sebastian," she practically whispers. "Is Knox here?" Her voice comes out weak and she begins swaying on her feet. She looks exhausted and like she is about to pass out where she stands.

I don't hesitate, reaching forward to swing Sky off her feet and up into my arms. I cradle her softly and she doesn't even bother to fight me, just accepting her fate and settling her head against my shoulder. I don't know what's more concerning the fact that she is standing here without us finding her or the fact that she didn't put up a fight when I picked her up. Honestly, I'm leaning toward the latter. The Sky I know now would never have allowed me to pick her up and settle in my arms, especially without a fight.

"I got you, Sky," I whisper, placing a soft kiss against the top of her head.

"I need, Knox," she murmurs.

I hate hearing another guy's name on her lips. It sounds wrong and I'm determined to make sure she never utters another male’s name besides mine or my brother's ever again. Except this time I have to accept it. Clearly, she has something she needs to say.

"He's not here, Babygirl," I tell her, holding her tighter against my body. "We need to get you cleaned up. You are covered in dirt, freezing cold, and I'm sorry but you smell to high heaven."

"NO!" she almost shouts, fighting to get out of my hold. It takes everything in me to hold her more tightly without hurting her.

"Stop squirming, Sky," I demand. "I'm not putting you down. If I do you will collapse and honestly, my self-control is completely shot and I cannot let you go right now. If anyone tries to touch you I will kill them," I growl. The last words are meant for everyone around us. Steel and Valentina had moved to my side as soon as I said Sky's name and picked her up in my arms. I knew they were going to try to take her from me and that wasn't happening right now.

"Whatever you need Knox for you can tell us," Steel changes tactics when he sees the death glare in my eyes. I am not handing Sky over.

"Make it quick," I demand. "She needs a shower and rest."

"She also needs food and water, Sebastian," Emma demands in that mom tone that makes my back straighten. Fuck. It's my job to take care of her. No one else's.

"Prison...," Sky mumbles. "Outside town. Alexandra."
