“I bet. Ariel and I are beside ourselves,” she continued. “I love having her stay over with me, but we both want our boys back, so we’re going out of our minds.”

“Want to come to mine for dinner? We can chat and catch up.”

“Love to. I can answer for Ariel as well. It would also be nice to give Ben a report on his brother.”

“Are they not talking still?”

“Not much. I wish they’d had the chance to be alone together on the tour and get over their differences. I’ll have to work out another plan for that.”

We made our goodbyes, and I finished up and drove home.

The closer I got, the greater a kind of urgency gathered inside me. So much was up in the air. My life and Tobi’s, Valentine and his brother, whatever he and I were together. I’d wanted a boyfriend but had barely checked the dating app I’d set up.

None of those things had answers, so I focused on what I knew. The need inside me. The attraction that bloomed whenever I was near the huge black-haired bodyguard. The energy that required an outlet or I was going to go crazy.

At my cottage, I parked up and went inside.

“Hello?” I tossed my things down and went to the bedroom.

Lounging on the bed, and in just his boxer shorts and a black t-shirt, Valentine put down a book he was reading. He tilted his head in enquiry, that teasing, lingering magnetism right there in his eyes. If he was surprised to see me, he didn’t say. Instead, he looked…delighted.

An idea struck me. “I’m the cleaning service you ordered.”

“Oh yeah?”

“I’m early. I hope that’s okay.”

Nerves struck me. I stripped my tabard over my head then moved to the curtains, drawing them closed. Valentine sat taller, the light in his eyes darkening and his focus locked on what I was doing.

“We’re a specialised service,” I continued, drifting my fingers down my body. “There are rules.”

“Name them.”

“No touching.”

He inhaled through his nose, his lips pressed together.

“Also, no exertion from the client. You’re to stay put.” I peeled off my long-sleeved top. Underneath was just my bra.

My heart sped, my body alive under his avid attention.

Valentine gave a groan. “If I don’t move from here, can I touch myself?”

God, I needed to see that. “That’s allowed.”

“Thank fuck.” He palmed the bulge in his shorts.

Not stopping for nerves, I unclipped my bra and freed my breasts. Now, I was topless, only tight cropped leggings on my lower half. I didn’t look at him but soaked up his grunt of pleasure at my reveal.

“Holy fuck, woman. Just…damn.”

I crossed the room, pretending to examine the place for cleaning work. “You’ll need to give me some direction. What’s dirty around here?”

“Besides all the things I want to do to ye?”

I hid a smile. “What do you need to see me clean?”

He considered that, giving himself a slow squeeze. “Maybe straighten the duvet.”
