Fiona was sitting in a bed several beds away, talking to a nurse who handed her a clipboard and pen. She smiled at the nurse, and Fiona responded with a smile of her own.

His shoulders relaxed, and he walked past the nurse to her. "Fiona," he called out her name, and she turned to look at him, appearing a bit surprised but pleased.

"How did you know I was here?"

"I have my ways," he replied, reaching out to touch her face before kissing her gently and inhaling her scent. "What happened?"

The nurse chuckled. "She was just a bit anxious after a fall. Nothing too concerning. Everything is fine."

He glanced at the nurse and then back at Fiona, who exchanged a smile with the nurse. "Thank you, Joyce."

"You're welcome. Once you finish signing these, just call me, and we can arrange your discharge."

"Home?" he looked at Fiona as the nurse walked away. He grabbed a nearby chair and sat. "They're releasing you?"

She nodded. "Yes, I'm fine."

He reached for her hand and squeezed it. "Are you just saying that to make me feel better, or are you really okay?"

She chuckled softly, nodding. "I'm fine. I fell, and I wanted to make sure the baby was okay. They did an ultrasound, and he's fine. Better than fine, actually."

He picked up on her words, and his eyes widened. "Wait, we're having a boy?"

She nodded. "Yes, it's a boy."

He smiled at her, suddenly feeling excited. They were having a baby boy.

"That's great, but that still doesn't tell me how you fell. Was it at home? Did you fall outside?"

She chewed on her cheek for a moment before looking back at him. "I didn't fall so much as I was maybe pushed."

His eyes widened. "What?"

"Who's Rocco?" she asked, her voice barely audible now.

His fists clenched tightly, and rage consumed him. Was she implying that Rocco pushed her? He wanted to storm out and confront Rocco, tearing him limb from limb.

Fiona's hand reached out, her fingers gently touching his. "Callum …"

"What did he say to you?"

She frowned. "He said his name was Rocco and that he had a message for you."

He frowned. Rocco had harmed her, and the message was loud and clear.

He took a deep breath and exhaled, gripping her hands gently. "Do you remember reading about pack rivals when you were doing your research?"

She nodded. "Yes, I read about it, and they are territorial."

"It's more than that," he explained. "Rocco did this because he wants to get to me. We've been rivals for years. My family has held the alpha position of the Silver Claw pack for a while, but if Rocco could eliminate me, he'd gain everything that's mine."

This revelation shocked her, her mouth dropping open and her eyes widening.

He tightened his hold on her hand. "For now, I think you should stay with me."

She scowled. "No, I can't do that. I'll be more careful. I'll even carry pepper spray if necessary. But I can't stay with you, Callum. I've already sacrificed too much of my independence."

He didn't like her answer, but he wouldn't push her right now. He had bigger fish to fry. He needed to locate Rocco. Therewas no way he would let that bastard escape unscathed after harming Fiona.
