Everything I’d dreamed about this visit had come true.
Lily looked up at me and smiled, planting a kiss on my scaled lips. “I think I’ve fallen for you,” she whispered.
“I know that I have,” I said. “I’ve dreamed about you every day since I left, hoping for a future…I was worried you would say no.”
“How could I? I’ve been alone for so long, trapped in this place, bound to be here forever. I always hoped I would find someone, and then you stumbled across me…”
I smiled, thinking back to our first encounter.
It had been just as heated as this one.
Lily blushed, her cheeks turning violet. I stole another kiss, unable to stop myself from such tender touches.
“You deserve everything and more,” I whispered. “Everything I have is yours. We’ll build a future together, one full of everything the two of us have yearned for.”
I would do anything to make her happy. Anything to make her smile. Building a home here meant I would get to spend my days and nights with her. Counting stars with the woman I loved, lazing by the water in the summer sun, baking fresh bread, and showing her all the special uses my tools could have.
I could see it now—a picturesque cottage in a forest by a pond, the perfect home and happy ending for a dragon and her lily.
