Beneath the dust veils of Egypt's quietest libraries hide secrets that claw at the edges of reality.

As a librarian, I prided myself on knowing every legend, but nothing could have prepared me for the evening I met Isolarel as he fell from the sky—a demi-god cast down in a blazing ball that shattered the stillness of my world. His curse is the stuff of nightmares—by day, a relentless force compels him to haul the sun's burning weight across the heavens. By night, he dies in flames, only to be reborn with the break of dawn. Half-man, half-scarab, he is a twisted creation.

And now, because of a moment's curiosity, his endless cycle of agony has become mine. Together, we face the daily torment of death and rebirth, a sinister bond forges between us—an unholy alliance that blurs the line between affection and terror.

The gods watch from their celestial thrones, their laughter a cold echo as the curse constricts like a noose. They take pleasure in our fear, our struggle, our impending doom.

Time is our enemy, each tick of the clock a step toward an eternal dusk. Every moment is laced with the dread of knowing that the darkness is alive, hunting us, biding its time.

Can we unravel the enigma and defy the monstrous will of the gods? Or are we merely playthings in a game too horrific to comprehend, fated to spiral into madness and despair?

This story has:

Off page death, torture, severe burns and injuries, curses, reincarnation.

“You’ve lost your mind. You’ll never make it!” Shu, my closest friend, cried out as I continued to beat my wings toward my future victory. His footsteps came behind me but he would never be able to follow where I planned to go.

I was Isolarel, a demi god in my own right. I conquered everything I set my mind to and the sun was the last adversary that continued to emphasize my failures each day. But today, it would be no longer. Today, I would triumph over that which many feared.

They say the arrogance of mortals knew no bounds, but they were nothing in comparison to those mixed with the blood of a god.

“Isolarel, no!” Shu’s strained voice faded into the distance as I beat my wings once, twice more—the heat emanating from my adversary’s surface threatening to burn me alive. The blast of hellish wind against my face only spurred me on as I gritted my teeth and increased the speed of my flight.

Wings, fashioned in flesh and created for one specific purpose.

My skin singed from the spitting flames as I roared toward its surface, determined to be the one to tame the untamable.

“You will bow to me!” I roared, arrogance fueling my aura, my blood boiling as I crept closer to hell in the heavens. The rest of the world called me crazy… and perhaps it was so. But at this very moment, the only thing on my mind wasvictory.

A numbness enveloped my entire being as I mentally separated myself from the unbearable pain. A gift from my mother’s side. The human ability for the mind to protect itself. It was a short moment of euphoria as the sounds of the world quieted until there was nothingness—nothing but the face of a God that scorned my existence.

Flames licked and jumped, teasing the air between us as the mouth of Heliox opened wide, devouring my existence into the belly of the beast that ruled the skies.
