Shoot. She didn’t want to lose her brothers over this. What if they refused to see her?

But every time she went back to see her dad, her stress levels went sky high. She was a nervous wreck for two weeks beforehand. Barely eating or sleeping and driving Loki up the wall with worry.

So maybe Remy was right.

“I’ll . . . I’ll think about it,” she said. Although she got the feeling that Remy had made his mind up.

He might have her best interests at heart and she’d take what he said into consideration. But it was still her life. Her family.

“Fuck,” Remy muttered. “I know that was pushy and you can tell me to fucking shove it. I just want you happy.”

She sighed, leaning into Remy. “I know. Families are hard.” Then she winced because Loki didn’t have a family anymore. “Sorry. I know I’m lucky to have one.” She reached out and Loki slid his hand into hers.

“I had an amazing granddad. You don’t have to say sorry to me.”

What about Remy, though? What about his family? He always seemed kind of alone.

“Remy?” she asked. “What about your parents?”

“They’re both dead, baby. A long time ago.”

That didn’t mean it didn’t hurt any less.

“I’m sorry.”

“It was hard at the time. Ma got sick and died when I was twelve. Pa died several years later in a car accident. I miss them both. Been traveling around a long time, searching for something. I didn’t even know what. Until I came into a small bar in a strange town and saw a fairy princess in a sparkly dress and cowboy boots.”

“Me?” she asked.

“You. It was an instant attraction.”

“Really? I thought I irritated you. You kept snapping at me to wear more . . . ohh.”

That was his way of showing he was interested? That he cared?

Sheesh.

“You could have just bought me flowers.”

“Could have. But I was fighting my attraction. Never intended to stay here for long.”

“And now?” she whispered.

“Now, I plan to stay here forever. With the two of you.” He looked to Loki.

“I’ve always loved Tink since the moment I saw her,” Loki said. “So I get what that feels like.”

Dear Lord.

How did this end up her life?

And please, God. Let it last forever.

“Maybe we should stop talking about this deep stuff, though, and go back to the blow jobs.” Loki grinned.

“Blow jobs!” She clapped her hands.

Okay, way to act like a dork.
