“I didn’t hurt anyone?” he asked, trying to look at them both but it was still dark and hard to make out their features. He sat up and Isa moved in next to him, curling herself around his body.

Fuck.

“No,” Remy reassured him. “You were just thrashing about.”

Fuck. “I shouldn’t have slept here. Tink needs her sleep. I need to go back to my room.”

“No, Ki-Ki, please,” she begged. “Don’t leave.”

He could feel himself starting to come down from the adrenaline surge. He hated crashing after nightmares.

“I can’t . . . I can’t.”

“Loki,” Remy said firmly. “Loki, look at me.”

He turned away from them both, sitting with his legs over the edge of the bed. He put his elbows on his legs, resting his head in his hand.

Then he felt her behind him. He stiffened, but she didn’t move away. She settled in around him, her arms circling his chest, her legs straddling his hips.

Fuck.

He took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Remy crouched in front of him.

“Sometimes, being alone isn’t the answer,” Remy said quietly.

“I don’t want to hurt anyone. Or keep you guys awake.”

“Like I could sleep knowing you were in the next room in the midst of a nightmare,” Isa said.

That was true, he guessed. She’d probably get up and come in and that would likely be worse.

Remy stood up and walked out. Where was he going?

“I want to be here for you, Ki-Ki,” Isa whispered. “The way you always are for me.”

He closed his eyes, and just concentrated on taking deep, cleansing breaths.

When he opened them, Remy was back and holding out a glass of water. “Drink this.”

Loki raised an eyebrow. Bossy, wasn’t he?

“Please,” Isa added.

Loki snorted, then he gulped it down. He hadn’t realized how dehydrated he was.

“Better?” Remy asked.

“Yeah. Sure you guys want me to stay?”

Isa hugged him tight, while Remy reached out and put his hand behind his neck, squeezing. Maybe it should have been weird. Perhaps he should have shrugged the other man’s touch off.

But surprisingly, it grounded him. He took a deep breath, able to clear off the lingering remnants of the nightmare from his head.

“Good?” Remy asked.

“Yeah. Yeah, I’m good.”

And he really was.
