“What are we doing this for?”

“Um, because I want you to.” Isa grinned at him. “But also, for the photo.”

“Photo? What photo?” Remy asked.

Isa sighed and put her hands on her hips. “Daddy! Haven’t you been listening?”

“Yes, Daddy. Haven’t you been listening?” Loki said cheekily.

“I’m sorry. Tell me again,” he said. Even though he was pretty sure that she hadn’t told him.

“It’s for the photo,” Isa said as she set out nail polish and makeup on the coffee table.

Surely all of that wasn’t for him, right?

“What photo?” he asked suspiciously. What was he going to look like this in a photo?

“The photo that goes on the card.”

“What card?” he asked, feeling like he was on repeat.

“The one we’re gonna send to people to tell them that we’re hosting a party.”

“We’re hosting a party?” This just kept getting worse and worse.

Remy was not a party guy.

“Yep.” She motioned to Loki and pointed at him to sit on the sofa. Then she sat on the coffee table and put his bare foot in her lap.

And yep . . . she was painting his toenails a sparkly pink.

“What party?” Remy glared down at them as he stood next to the sofa.

“A housewarming party, Daddy. Don’t worry, I won’t make you wear this outfit for the party.”

“A housewarming party? We didn’t move.”

“You did,” Loki said with a grin as she swapped to his other foot. “And we need to have a party.”

“Party!” Isa threw her hands up in the air.

He sighed and sat next to Loki. “I’m not going to talk either of you out of this, am I?”

“Nope,” Isa said. “Now, gimme your feet.”

“No. I draw the line at getting my nails painted.”

She stared up at him with wide eyes. “But, Daddy, then we won’t match! I’ve got mine done. Loki has his done. If Razzie could, he’d have his done too.”

“No,” he said firmly. Someone had to say no to her.

She sniffled, her head dropping.

Shit.

“Fine. You can paint my nails. But no make-up,” he said soothingly.

“Oh, goody!” she clapped her hands.
