“That’s only fair, I guess. I bet they’re headed to Mexico on the yacht.”

Kierra’s mouth popped open. “They have a yacht?”

“They do. Anthony’s settlement money was burning a hole in his pocket, so he purchased a yacht when they were in Miami for Simone’s birthday.”

“Is buying a yacht a bad investment?”

I tilted my head from side to side. “It depends on what you do with it. Anthony rents it out when they’re not using it, and he’s made quite a bit of money so far. At this rate, he’ll recoup his initial investment in a few short years.”

“That’s amazing.”

“We should go one day,” I suggested.

“I don’t do boats, Jon.”

“But you’ll fly down a highway going over 70 miles an hour?” I challenged as I followed her to the breakfast table.

“Highways don’t have sharks.”

“I like sharks!” Casey announced loudly as he entered the kitchen.

“You do?” Kierra gasped. “I think we should go to the aquarium on Sunday. What do you guys think?”

The kids cheered, but all I could think about was wrangling our four plus Nori all afternoon. What if Kierra is right? What if we have enough kids already?

“Where the hell is all the furniture?” Anthony asked in disbelief after I let us into the house.

“Hell if I know. Eliza probably pawned it off.”

“Forgive me for saying this, but your ex lives in a million-dollar trap house.”

I ignored Anthony and started taking pictures of the residence and surveying any damage. I entered the kitchen and rolled my eyes. “Sorry, Anthony, but you’ll have to buy new appliances.”

“I expect nothing less from a crack fiend!” Anthony shouted from the living room. “I bet the children don’t have beds upstairs.”

The sad part about it is that he’s probably right.

We finished touring the house half an hour later, and as Anthony predicted, the kids didn’t even have beds, and there was only a mattress in Eliza’s bedroom.

I hope she’s in the process of moving out and not living like this.

“What do you think?”

“I’m knocking off twenty grand for the appliances,” Anthony informed.

“Anthony, if you wanted to fuck me up the ass, just skip the pleasantries and bend me over.”

“Hey, I’m doing you a favor. I should make you buy me lunch, but I’m sure you’re trying to run back home to play with the nanny while the kids` nap.”

I shrugged my shoulders and didn’t bother refuting his statement.

“Are you happy, Jon?”

“I am,” I replied without hesitation.

“And how is Kierra dealing with her husband’s passing?”
