“She always pulls through. She’s tough,” I remind him. This isn’t the first time she’s had her ass beat, and I’m sure it won’t be her last.

“Where are we heading?” Levi asks this time. I smirk at him in the rearview mirror.

“Jasper fucking Morrows.”

“You’re going to do something stupid, aren’t you?” Silas asks.

“Define stupid.”

“You’re going to kill him.”

“He put his hands on something that doesn’t belong to him. You’re goddamn right that I’m going to do something. I’m going to kill him.” The guys laugh because they know exactly what I’m going to do to him. He had no business getting in the middle of that fight, and he knew it.

Now he’s going to pay for putting his fucking hands on my little Syn.

Chapter 2

Tamsyn

Something startles me awake, and I sit straight up in my bed. My head is pounding, spinning, and throbbing all at the same time.

I reach up and grab my head in my hands, praying it will all just stop, but it doesn’t. When I glance over at the clock, I see it’s three in the morning. I’m not sure how the hell I got back here or who brought me. Then I feel something sticky between my thighs. I throw the blanket back and look down at my now naked body.

“Fuck,” I hiss under my breath. This isn’t the first time this has happened, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. All I can think is that Brady raped me while I was asleep again. One day, I’ll kill him. One day I will fuck his life up.

I glance over and see the pills and water sitting on the nightstand and sigh. It wasn’t Brady. It couldn’t have been Brady because he would never leave me any medicine next to the bed.

I reach over and grab the pills, not caring what they are, popping them into my mouth before taking a long drink of water to swallow them down. I take a minute or two just to sit here and try to remember what the fuck happened to me.

I was fighting with Angela when shit got real. When I saw Jasper coming, I knew it was over. I tried to fight him off, but he’s too big and so much stronger than I am. I knew it was going to end badly when I saw him coming toward me.

Shaking my head, I get rid of the thoughts and throw my feet over the side of the bed. When I first stand up, I wobble a little before gaining my balance.

I take it slow as I make my way into the bathroom and straight into the shower. I don’t want to see what I look like until after I wash the blood off myself. I turn on the warm water and climb in, hissing from the pain as the water pelts my skin. Slowly, it begins to relax my muscles, and I grab the sponge to clean myself up.

I don’t know why I do these things. I don’t know why they’re done to me. I don’t mind fighting. I’ve been fighting my whole damn life, but lately, it seems someone is testing me. I don’t know who or why, but I can feel it.

I step out of the shower, and as I reach for the towel on the rack, it’s snatched away. Instantly, I step back and cover my chest with my arms.

“You act as if I’ve never seen you naked before, Tam.” Internally I cringe, but outwardly, I keep a straight face, not allowing him to see what the fuck he does to me. I won’t give him that satisfaction.

“Why are you in here?”

“I came to see you.”

“Get out, Brady.”

“That’s no way to greet your future father, now is it?” Chills race across my skin when he says that. I know he and my mom are engaged, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.

“You’ll never be my father.”

“Oh, I will, Tam. And then what are you going to do? You can’t say no to your father.” Another chill runs over me, and this time, it’s from disgust. I don’t know much about the Kings because we females are basically kept in the dark. What I do know is that you’re never to tell a King no.

“Stay away from me, Brady.” That was probably the weakest attempt to get him away, but I know by now it never works. Nothing I do ever works.

Brady stalks toward me, and I keep my arms tight against my chest. When he’s close enough, he reaches out and runs his fingers over the bruises on my body. I want to throw up. In fact, I fight the urge as he keeps his fingers moving. Without warning, he presses into the bruise, causing me to whimper.

“You do know why this is happening to you, don’t you?” I wince at the lingering pain as I shake my head no.
