“Her name is Tamsyn Willows.”

“That means nothing to me,” he says softly.

“It probably wouldn’t, considering you aren’t a King, but to those of us who are, it means everything. You put your hands on a Princess.”

“I don’t know what the fuck that means!” he yells this time.

“It means she’s a queen in training. It means she’s going to belong to a King!” I growl this time. I see the look on Jasper’s face. He’s scared shitless now. Not everything is a secret. Obviously, there are rumors things get leaked around campus that let everyone know about the King’s. As much as it is a secret society, some people know about it.

“I didn’t know!” he screams louder this time. I’ve had enough of him screaming. I nod at Levi, and he grabs the chain, pulling back on it to cut off Jasper’s air supply. Jasper struggles against the hold as his eyes widen and his face reddens. I smile under my mask. Nodding to Silas, he moves away from the end of the rod, and I bring it to rest on Jasper’s chest. He tries to scream, but nothing comes out of his mouth because Levi still has the chain pulled tight.

The girl in the corner gags and throws up on the floor as the scent of burnt flesh fills the room. I pull the rod away from his chest and nod for Levi to let him breath. Jasper is panting heavily. I’m surprised he didn’t pass out.

I toss the rod to the floor and walk closer to him, taking in the brand I burned into him.

“Do you know what that is?” I ask him. He shakes his head rapidly. “It’s our brand. Well, one of them. We, as Kings, wear the brand of the King’s crown. As our queens, they wear our brand as well as the queen’s crown. But people who touch what isn’t theirs wear this brand. The skull. It means you’re marked for death. Now, whether or not I kill you right now is the question.”

“Please don’t. I’ll do anything you say!”

“That’s not how I’m feeling today, Jasper. In fact, I’m feeling the grim reaper breathing down my neck at this very moment,” I tell him. He gasps as I pull my knife from my pocket and smile. I step closer, nodding for Silas to grab the girl so she doesn’t scream. He moves quickly, wrapping his hand around her mouth and holding her tightly.

Then I nod to Levi to hold the chains once more. He pulls back, cutting off Jasper’s air supply once again. His eyes widen as I stab the knife into his chest over and over. The girl screams behind Silas’s hand, but I keep going. When I see the light in his eyes slowly begin to fade, I nod for Levi to release him. His head falls to the side, and I turn to the girl.

I reach down and grab the backpack, pulling out another rod and heating it. Her eyes go wide as she watches. She begins to fight Silas’s hold the closer I get to her.

“You were a causality of all of this. You shouldn’t have been here, but you were,” I explain as I shrug. I finish heating the rod, and then I press it to her stomach. She screams behind his hand before passing out from the pain. She goes limp in his arms, and he collects her, lifting her easily and laying her on the bed. I look down at the broken heart brand and smile. Now she’s a whore for the King’s to use.

Chapter 4

Tamsyn

Hate means feeling an intense dislike for someone. That word isn’t strong enough for what I feel for Brady. I don’t even know if there’s a word in the English language that would.

I fix my hair and slide my feet into my chuck’s before heading down the stairs and into the kitchen. Mom sits there, not looking at me when I enter. Not that it’s anything new for us. She loathes me. She hates I’m around, and I find I don’t care much for her either. Ignoring the stab in my chest, I grab an apple and take a bite before grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge when she finally decides to speak.

“We’re having an engagement party on Saturday night. I expect you to be there and act accordingly.”

“When have not acted accordingly?” I ask her. She looks up from her phone, and I can see the scowl on her face as she takes in the bruises on mine. I did the best I could to cover them with makeup, although they don’t bother me as much as they bother other people.

“Fighting again?” she asks, nodding toward my face.

“Seems so. Trouble just seems to find me.”

“Or you go out looking for it,” she snaps.

“I’ll be on my best behavior on Saturday,” I tell her as I uncap my water and take a drink. I start toward the door when Brady steps into the room. The air thickens, and I feel the bile burning the back of my throat, but I quickly swallow it down.

“Off to school?” he asks as if he didn’t have his cock shoved down my throat the other day.

“Yeah, I’m late,” I reply quickly, side-stepping him.

“I’m sure your mother told you we’re having a party.”

“She did.”

“You’ll act accordingly, Tam.” I cringe at his nickname for me. I nod my head and bite down into my apple as he watches me.

“I already told her I would be.” He nods his head, and I step past him, heading for the front door. I walk down the steps a little quicker to get away from this house before climbing in my car and hauling ass out of the driveway.
