“You’re a psychopath,” I whispered, twisting away.

“I’ve heard that before.” He gestured at my dress near the pole. “Clothes. Now. Home.” He turned on his heel and headed for the door, leaving me reeling.

“This better be good,” I barked into my phone at Loch as I adjusted my dick.

There was a chance it might fall off right along with my blue balls. This woman had me all kinds of fucked up.

“We’ve spotted Stefanov’s thugs on the surveillance footage. Rada recognised one of them.”

“Were you romantically watching surveillance cameras together? Isn’t it bad luck to see the bride the night before the wedding?”

“Not the time,” he growled.

The Stefanov gang had trafficked and abused Rada before Loch found her so he was understandably angry.

“Which cameras?”

“Multiple. You need to see this.”

“Shite,” I muttered, clicking off the call.

I wouldn’t be following my hummingbird home.

“Make sure she gets home,” I told Ian. “With me,” I said to Craig, and we headed for the car that I left Cian in.

The distance from Amy created a buzzing in the back of my mind. I’d had her in my lap tonight. She was such a mix of frightened rabbit and fiery bombshell. When I first saw her, the obsession that sprouted to life had mutated into a monstrous, all-consuming need. For the first twenty-four hours, I kidded myself that it was because she was hiding something. But it was the O’Sullivan curse. The men in our family were like swans, mated for life. Unfortunately, we also lost our minds to possessiveness, which didn’t always end well for the women. I refused to let anything happen to Amy by my hand or another, but my infatuation was growing more potent, and I didn’t want to be away from her. She still hid many secrets, but the ones I couldn’t uncover myself, I intended to extract pleasurably.

Twenty minutes later, we were home, as the club was on our side of Sheffield. People laughed when I set up base here. We weren’t near a port, nor was the city massive, but it appealed to me on several levels. Plus, there was a small enough airport here to bribe the officials.

Loch stood at the door as we pulled up, which was never a good sign.

“Is Rada okay?” I asked.

“She’s alright,” Loch replied, and the murderous beast he unleashed on our enemies peaked out from behind his eyes.

“Fair play. Are you alright?”

He grunted and turned on his heel, heading for my office. Cian followed us inside, keeping a wide berth from Loch. They didn’t get on.

Loch flicked on the laptop as I sat down. Multiple screens appeared. We’d set up cameras facing out from the front and back entrances. The clubs already monitored the bouncer queues, but I didn’t normally have them fed to my office. Thomas had facial recognition software running on the entire system. We hoped we’d spot any known Stefanov associates.

Nikola Zhirkov’s ugly, scarred-up mugshot popped up on the screen, and sure enough, he’d been spotted outside a club. The word was Niko was once Boyan Stefanov’s right-hand man, although how high up he featured these days with his sons pulling the strings, who knew. Maybe not high if he was doing surveillance. That said, I sent Loch on important jobs as he had an eye for details.

“Which club is this?”

“If you rewind the latest footage, you’ll see yourself leaving from the back door.”

“Shite.”

My mind reeled. Had the Bulgarians discovered Amy’s importance to me, or was it a coincidence?

Loch answered my unasked question by flicking to the next section of surveillance. My blood boiled as I saw Niko watching the back entrance to a familiar chip shop and the tiny flat above it.

“It was a good idea to place that camera,” Loch noted.

We argued yesterday about putting cameras at Amy’s place, which was far too unsecured. Despite the temptation, I didn’t place any cameras inside. She had a housemate, and I didn’t want to see another woman naked. My eyes were for the hummingbird only. I may, however, have stolen some of her underwear instead. Not sorry.
