“Better than Harry Winston?”

I finger my necklace as he watches me, his blue eyes sparkling. “That is pretty hard to beat.”

He kisses my chin, my jaw, and works his way down to my clavicle. “I’d better do my best then, hadn’t I?”

Epilogue

Khristian

Three weeks later

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Imogen asks me as she buckles up.

I swallow hard.

It’s been almost sixteen years since I drove a loved one in a car. I don’t even drive my family anywhere, but this has to be done. It’s a fear that I know I have to overcome.

I can have all the money and success in the world, but this has been holding me back for a very long time.

“I need to do this.”

She nods, giving me a warm smile that melts my heart.

I take another deep breath. I don’t tell her I’ve been sitting in the underground parking lot in our apartment building for the last fifteen minutes.

My palms are sweating and my heart races out of my chest as I put the car into drive and take the handbrake off. I’ve driven a million times, but never with Imogen in the car.

It feels… different.

She talks about her day, and about something funny Mary, one of the store clerks, did. I know she’s trying to put my nerves at ease.

“... then we got to thinking about Christmas and what we’d do for the holidays,” she says.

I frown as I begin to edge out.

“The holidays?”

“Yes. Will we stay here or go to New York?”

Imogen has met my parents once, but it would be nice to go and spend some time there over the holidays.

“I can take you to New York if you’d like, my love.”

She smiles. “I’d love to help your mom cook and get everything ready for Christmas day.”

“You realize we don’t celebrate Christmas until January?” I say, a smirk on my lips.

“Oh, yeah, I forgot that.” She makes a face. “Well, we could do our Christmas here with Ari and Lukas and then spend January with your parents and Sascha.”

“I think that’s a great idea.”

She smiles. “It’s settled.”

My girl loves the holidays and I want it to be special for her, being our first Christmas together.

I make a left and pull out onto the street.

We’re going out for dinner and it’s dark already. Winter is coming in fast.
