“In my ivory tower?”

I smile. I like how he tries to deflect. He’s really good at it. “No, in one of your many skyscrapers.”

He shrugs. “It can be, if you let it.”

I see. He probably has a million women keeping him occupied. Stupid me. I almost laugh when I think about Khristian being lonely. Under what fallacy would he ever let something like that happen?

He can say what he likes, but even what he’s doing now is seducing me with very little effort. And it’s working.

I’m shameless to admit it, but it feels good to be wanted by a man like Khristian.

It feels good to have his eyes on my body, watching my every move and liking what he sees. Every now and again his fingers brush against mine, jolting me into place.

His skin feels like hot lava on mine. Burning very bad thoughts into my brain, thoughts I can’t escape from nor would I want to.

“How do you keep yourself from being lonely?” I quirk a brow.

He gets my drift. Leaning over toward me, he brings his mouth closer to my ear and says, “I think you know.”

I swallow hard.

I don’t want to think about him with another woman, in fact, heat rises in my face when I think of such a tragedy. If he were mine… I wouldn’t share him with anyone.

“Sex?”

“I’ve been known to indulge, but I’ve been here for almost two weeks, and you’re the first woman I’ve slept with.”

I search his face for any signs of lying, but I don’t see any. I don’t dare to ask if that’s considered a long time for him.

As if reading my mind he says, “What about you?”

My gaze meets his. “What about me?”

“When did you last sleep with a man, besides me?”

I clear my throat. He wants honesty? He’s going to get it.

“Six months ago.”

“Six months?”

“Is that so hard to believe?”

“Who was he?”

I shift again. “Uh, my ex.”

He stares at me as I squirm under his scrutiny. “You haven’t slept with another man since your ex?”

I sit up straighter. “I don’t sleep around, Khristian. I told you that. I have to care about someone before…” I don’t mean to make my words harsh, but I also want him to know the truth. “…Before I do that.”

“I think I like being the exception.” He doesn’t hide his smile.

“Smart ass.”

He laughs out loud, making me laugh too. I feel his hand on my thigh and he gives it a squeeze. “If you’ll excuse me for a moment?”

I nod as he pushes out his chair to walk toward the men’s room.
