I should approach her. Ask her if she’d care to have that drink… Bring her back to my table and seduce her.

Fuck.

It wouldn’t be hard. I’ve been with a lot of women, but I’m always turned on by a little bit of resistance. She seems like the type who would put up a bit of a fight. Prim and proper.

I smirk into my whiskey as a woman approaches.

I look up as she straightens. Her low-cut top revealing her overly blown-up tits.

Another thing I despise. Fake tits.

It makes me wonder what my Krasavitsa has under that pretty dress of hers. She looks natural from where I’m standing.

“Fuck off,” I say, not meeting her gaze.

She laughs. “Khristian, it’s me, Chelsea!”

My eyes flick to hers. Is that supposed to mean something to me?

I doubt we’ve slept together. I don’t like easy women who flaunt themselves in my face.

I like a little mystery. A little chase. Something to sink my teeth into… like my pretty little raven haired girl.

I pique an eyebrow when she goes to climb in my lap. She stops suddenly.

“Khristian!” she chastises. “Don’t be like that.”

“I’m busy.” I take my drink to my mouth and glance to my bodyguard by the roped off area.

He moves in quickly.

He probably let her up here because she barely has any clothes on. At least my security are consistent.

But tonight I only have eyes for my raven haired beauty.

And I'm in a bad mood.

My new store is weeks behind, maybe more.

I’m on the verge of firing everyone except Doris, my personal assistant. She’s been with me forever and though we may butt heads and she’s the only person who can get away with chastising me when I’m being an ass, I do like her. She’s sixty and has been married to the same man for forty years. I shake my head at the idea.

I had a dream once. One that was shattered one night in the blink of an eye… when I lost my fiancé Nina and our unborn child in a car crash. A drunk driver changed my life forever. I’ll never forget it. It made me feel like I’d lost everything in the world, and I had.

I blink away the thoughts and sounds that invade my every waking moment and have for the last fifteen years.

I’ve never had many lasting relationships since then. My last girlfriend was a disaster.

Then again, I only stayed with Claudia because it was convenient. Not because I actually loved her. We were what New York calls a ‘power couple.’ Though I always hated the term.

She’s well-bred, works in advertising and has the killer instinct I was intrigued by and attracted to.

She’s beautiful, of course, but not in an understated way. Claudia knows exactly how to get anything she wants. She’s a master at it.

Still, she looked good on my arm, and for a while we were the most photographed couple in New York.

Every time I see her when our paths cross in business, she tries to rekindle the flame. I’m never going there again and it’s unclear why she keeps trying. Her father owns half of Wall Street and begged me to reconsider our breakup.

She’s nothing like my Nina, and eventually I had to walk away.
