I laughed and followed her out of the room and downstairs, where the three men were getting the food set out on the table while Sofia slapped her hands on the highchair tray. My heart warmed, realizing Mason made sure we had all the baby supplies we needed.

He came up to me with a huge smile. “Evan told me the good news. Congratulations.”

“Thank you, Mason. It’s scary,” I said. “But it’s also a miracle.”

“You’re already a fantastic mother. This will only seal the deal on your Mom of the Year Award.”

I chuckled, then made my way to the table, the scent of the food beckoning.

“Okay, so,” Analise announced once we were all seated with our plates filled, clapping her hands together. “I’ll be staying the night here, too. No arguments.”

So typical of Ana. I glanced at Mason, who didn’t seem bothered by her antics. In fact, he seemed amused.

“People are going to start talking if they find out you’re sleeping at the boss’s place.” He smirked.

I exchanged a glance with Evan, wondering if that was going to be a problem.

“Ana, you don't have to—” I said, but she cut me off with a wave of her hand.

“Mariah, please. We haven't seen each other in ages, and I want to spend as much time as possible with you and Sofia. It’s already not going to be long enough. Plus, I've already got what I need here anyway,” she said. Clearly she wouldn’t take no for an answer.

“Well, I wouldn’t be sad if we got the whole night together,” I said, glancing at Mason and Evan in turn. “But is it okay?”

“It’s fine,” Mason said, an amused gleam in his eye.

“Okay, as long as—wait.” I turned back to Analise. “What do you mean you have what you need here?”

A slow smile crept over her lips. “Let's just say there's been a development since you left,” she said cryptically, a mischievous glint in her eyes. Before I could ask what she meant, she jumped up from the table and ran out of the room.

I exchanged looks with Jax and Evan, who looked just as confused as I did. Only Mason didn’t seem surprised by Analise’s behavior.

“What’s going on?” Evan asked.

“Your guess is as good as mine.”

Moments later, Analise reemerged, wearing a familiar-looking hoodie. “See, I’ve got my pajamas right here. All set for a sleepover.”

The pieces started clicking into place, and my jaw dropped when I recognized it as Mason's favorite sweatshirt.

I gasped. “No way! You and Mason?”

“You aren’t the only ones with a surprise.” Analise giggled, offering a sheepish grin. “We've been seeing each other for a couple months now.”

“What?” Evan was as surprised as I was. “Are you serious?”

He turned to his best friend and business partner, and I had to laugh at the shock on his face. I thought he might have been even more stunned than when I told him I was pregnant. “Aren’t you the one who insisted we abide by the ‘don’t sleep with employees’ rule? Fuck.” He dragged his hand through his hair. “Never saw that one coming.”

“Neither did we,” Mason confessed. “But sometimes life takes you by surprise.”

Yeah, no kidding.

“It’s not like we’re doing much sleeping,” Ana pointed out innocently, but then a devious smile curved her lips as she ran her fingers over the hoodie. “And just kidding, I don’t actually wear pajamas.”

The heated look she shared with Mason was enough to make my own cheeks burn. “Well, okay. I don’t know what to say, but if you guys are happy, that’s all that matters to me.”

“Thanks, Mariah,” Analise said, grinning. She leaned in and kissed Mason on the lips, and I wondered if she’d felt as shocked when I’d dropped my own bombs as I did right now.

We finished dinner, then Jax excused himself to go to his room, no doubt to keep working late into the night. I sighed, hoping he really was okay and taking care of himself. The four of us cleaned up dinner, played with Sofia for a bit, then put on a movie, though we spent more time talking than watching. Things suddenly felt more normal, and I hadn’t realized just how much I needed that until now.
