Page 97 of Awakening His Mate

Turning back toward the door, his large frame is suddenly in my way and I grin as he pushes me against the tiled wall behind me, capturing my wrists over my head. His scent fills my nose and my wolf whimpers at the same time as I do.

“Was that little performance for me?”

“I wanted to get your attention.” I peer up at him, heat spreading through me.

He presses a kiss to my neck and I tilt my head to give him better access. My pussy throbs as he grinds against me, hitting that most sensitive spot with each roll of his hips.

“You have it, my little Dove. Now what?”

I let out a moan that sounds so desperate it makes him chuckle. “Please fuck me.”

His fingers slip between our bodies, teasing through my folds. “Since you asked so nicely.”

I’m flipped around, my face pressed against the tiles and my heart thumps as I wait for him push into my wet heat. He shoves in so deeply I feel him everywhere. “Jackson.” I whine his name, unable to draw in a breath as he starts to thrust into me.

My legs tremble as my climax builds and I flatten my palms against the wall to stop from folding beneath his growing momentum. Fireworks explode behind my eyes, and I squeeze them shut as my throat clogs as my vocal cords try and fail to make sound.

Fuck, I can’t breathe.

Jackson’s grip on my hips is the only thing keeping me upright as he spills inside me. Somehow I manage to drag in air, feeding my starving lungs as his pace slows. A kiss is pressed between my shoulders as he slips my hair out of the way.

“You’re my entire existence, Dove.”

He’s mine too, so I twist my head so I can capture his mouth in an awkward kiss over my shoulder. “Don’t ever leave me,” I whisper.

“Never,” he agrees.

Jackson pulls free of my pussy and helps me into the shower. My body feels wrung out and he takes care of me, washing my body and hair before taking care of himself. I squirt shower gel onto my hands and rub it into his broad back, taking my time to explore every inch of him before I sluice the bubbles away.

When we’re done, Jackson wraps a towel around my body and leads me back into the bedroom. I take my time dressing, uncertain what our routine is going to be here. At the cabin, there were things we had to do daily.

Jackson waits for me to pull on his sweater and a pair of thick yoga pants before we head downstairs.

Everyone is sitting in the living space, and although it feels relaxed on the surface, there is an undercurrent of uncertainty.

“Morning,” Tessa says in her sweet voice. She looks pale, and I wonder if this stress is taking its toll on her.

After we greet each other, I give my attention to Cade, who doesn’t look as if he has slept a wink. I can feel the tension vibrating off him, only slightly muted by the fact that he has Halle tucked against his side.

“You okay?” Jackson asks, sensing at the same time as I do that something is not quite right with his alpha.

“Just tired,” he says.

“Did you sleep at all?”

He shakes his head, but it’s Halle who answers him. “I came down to sleep on the couch after it became apparent he wasn’t coming to bed.”

There’s no reproach in her voice, just concern. Cade might not be an alpha in the usual sense, but he has always taken the role of protector seriously.

“I knew I should have stayed with you,” Jackson mutters. “You said you were going to bed.”

Cade gives him a wry smile. “I couldn’t sleep even if I wanted to. It’s my job to keep everyone safe.”

“What’s the plan for today?” Apryle asks, bringing everyone’s attention to her.

“You mean, besides just living?” Sawyer asks, raising his brow. “Because that didn’t seem like a possibility yesterday.”

I glance at Wyatt, who is sitting between Sawyer and Abel, looking a lot better than he did the day before.
