I…laugh.

This is all so bonkers. And so familiar.

“You know, Sammy,” I say, “Maybe after all this time we should finally–”

“Do not finish that sentence,” Cam mutters.

Then I’m being dipped back by my boyfriend and kissed, in front of the Racketeers fans, in front of Sammy, on the jumbotron.

Again.

I’m laughing when Cam finally rights me.

“She’s taken,” Cam tells Sammy. “Keep your paws off of her.”

Sammy drops his head, shaking it sadly, then puts his hand over his heart and starts back up the stairs.

The crowd gives him a collective, “Awww.”

But then the camera pans back to me and Cam, and the crowd cheers.

I grin and, stupidly, wave.

What? I’m happy. I can’t help it.

“They’re here!” Brady exclaims behind us.

I turn and watch him wave to a beautiful woman who is standing on the steps with a little girl who is talking to Sammy. The little girl is also holding a man’s hand.

After a quick interaction with Sammy that involves a hug and a high-five, they continue down the stairs to Brady’s row.

“Hi, Mom,” Brady greets. “Hey, Dev.”

“Brady!” the little girl squeals, shaking her parents off and lunging for him.

He scoops her up, giving her a big hug. “Hey, kid!”

She squeezes him but then pulls back and leans toward Lydia. “Hi, Lydia!”

“Hi, Amara.” Lydia accepts the little girl climbing into her arms but hugs her and then quickly lets her slide to the floor as Amara is really too big to be held.

Brady gives the woman—who is obviously Chelsea—a hug, and then hugs his stepdad.

I’m suddenly nervous, but also so fascinated. I so want to meet these people.

I feel Cam squeeze my waist. “Breathe, goddess.”

I do, then I look up at him.

He’s watching me with such clear affection in his eyes that I can’t do anything but take a deep breath and smile.

Then Brady says, “Mom, Dev, this is Luna.”

I look up.

“Oh my god! Hi!” Chelsea says. “I’m so glad to meet you!”

Dev gives me a smile. “Hi.” He extends a hand. “Brady never stops talking about you. Unless he’s talking about Lydia, of course. And thanks for all the leftovers you’ve sent home with him. Your cupcakes are amazing.”
