I nod. “Yep. And we know how to train hard to get there. So come back to bed.”

She smiles and shakes her head. “It was ten out of ten stars, I swear.”

"People don't sneak out in the middle of the night after a ten out of ten."

"It's actually morning. The start of my day. I own a bakery. We start before the sun comes up."

"You're going to work?" I hadn’t even thought of that. We should have let her get more sleep maybe.

She chews on her bottom lip and I wonder for a moment if she's contemplating lying to me. I just wait. This will be interesting.

She finally blows out a breath. "No, I'm actually closed today and tomorrow. I'm open on the weekends, so I take other days off to catch up. But I'm going into a really busy season. I have some recipes I need to test and some designs to finalize. When you own your own business, you kind of work all the time."

I know this. Cam works all the time, it seems. After making his first million, he seems to push even harder. Doing what, I’m not exactly sure. Nerd stuff. But it keeps him busy as hell.

I push off the wall and move toward her. She doesn't step back. She just tips her head back and looks up at me as I come to stand in front of her.

It strikes me that her boots have at least a three-inch heel and she still only comes up to my chest.

I reach a hand up and thread it through her soft, silky hair. "Stay."

She shakes her head. "I can't. A lot to do. This was really fun. Exactly what I wanted and needed. But I gotta go."

"You're not open today. Stay here. Test your new recipes here. Hell, Cam and I will be wonderful taste testers for you."

She smiles. "Cam said you had all the ingredients for pancakes, but I doubt you have all the ingredients I'm going to need."

"I'll get them." I drag my thumb over her jaw. "I'll call in an order as soon as the places are open. Deliver it straight here. You don’t have to do anything but come back and press that sweet ass against me and let me hold you for a few more hours.”

She wants that. I can see it in her eyes. I’m not going to make her stay, and I’m not going to make her feel guilty if she leaves, but I am going to do whatever I can to make it easy for her if she chooses to give me more time with her.

Finally, she asks, "Do you even have a stand mixer?"

"Can you buy one of those in Chicago on a Sunday in November?" I ask.

Her smile grows and she nods. "Yes."

"Then I will have a stand mixer."

"I have designs to finalize. Everything's on my computer."

I lift a brow. "You don't save things to the cloud?"

Again, she pulls her bottom lip between her teeth, and I think she's contemplating lying.

"Tell me the truth,” I say firmly.

I'm not the bossy one. That is most definitely Cam. But I can be firm if I need to be. I need to be here. I want her to stay and I need her to know that.

She nods. "Fine. Yes. I do save it to the cloud."

"So you can access it from here. Despite how he acts in the bedroom, Cam is a huge nerd. He has so much tech and computer equipment I can't even explain it. I promise you he has a computer you can use. Probably some amazing graphic program that you haven't even dreamed of. You’ll have the best designs you’ve ever seen when you walk out of here."

She narrows her eyes. "You want me to stay here and work? I'll be busy the whole day. How does that actually get you anything?"

I pull her closer. Now her body is up against mine. "I get to see you longer. I get to be around you. Look at you wearing only one of my hoodies and nothing underneath. Flirt with you. Laugh with you.”

She’s watching me with an expression that’s hard to describe.
