"Thank you." Her mother crosses to the refrigerator and removes a carton of cream. She proceeds to pour it into a little creamer pitcher and then sets it along with a sugar bowl on a tray. She adds a bunch of spoons, all the while chattering about… something.

I honestly have no idea.

Because Luna is still standing right there. Right in front of me. Her eyes on mine. That smudge of chocolate icing on her cheek.

I actually really like Lori McNeill. I've met her and her husband several times. They are huge supporters of the team. But right now, I have no idea what she's saying, nor do I care.

"It was nice talking with you," Luna finally says.

"Same." My voice sounds raspy. But that's the truth. Whether or not I should enjoy spending time with Luna McNeill, I did.

She finally steps back, crosses to the coffee maker, and removes the glass carafe from the burner. "See you later, Owen,” she tosses over her shoulder as she heads out into the living room.

As she leaves, I finally take a big, deep breath. What just happened?

Uh, you just got a hard-on for your player’s sister. The one who has a thing going with another player. That’s what happened.

See, that girl can just suck people into her orbit. It's like she's a sun, and we’re all just planets that revolve around her.

I guess I'm the new planet in her galaxy.

Because fuck, I know as soon as I step out into that living room, I will immediately find her wherever she is.

I look down at the empty plate in front of me. What the hell? I grab another and eat it in three bites.

Because honestly? Luna McNeill's cake, the one she baked, is the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth.

But I have a feeling that Luna could give me something that would rival even this cake.

When I've gathered myself, and make sure I don't have any more frosting on my face, I head out into the main room with everyone else.

Immediately, I find Luna, just as expected.

Not only because she has some spell over me, but also because she's standing next to Alexsei.

And he just made her laugh.

And that tinkling sound, along with the gorgeous smile on her face, makes hot need clench in my gut.

Then he leans over and says something in her ear and she nods.

Yeah, they look really good together. They're the same age. They have the same contagious energy.

And she really likes him.

I didn’t have to have her say a thing to know that. It's very obvious by the way she looks at him.

I sigh.

Well, at least I can always have her cake.

The kind she bakes, of course.

“Hey Coach.” I feel a big hand land on my shoulder and I look over at Jack Hayes, our right winger.

“Hey.”

“Just wanted to tell you that he’s pooping fine now.”
