I start to get out but Alexsei grabs my arm.

I look over questioningly.

"What if Phillips is here with her?" he asks.

"She said she'd see him at eight."

He nods.

"The next eight o'clock is tomorrow morning at eight a.m. And he doesn’t strike me as the show-up-at-midnight type. He's not here."

He nods again. But he still looks worried.

This woman has him tied up and I hate the idea that she might hurt him.

My voice gets a little firmer. "And it won't matter if he is."

Alexsei looks surprised. I don’t blame him. I've never been like this. Not over anyone I’ve ever gone out with and certainly not because of a girl.

"Don't upset her,” he says.

I lift a brow. He’s feeling protective of her from me? This is so interesting. But if I have to upset Luna a little bit to get my point across, I will.

She can handle it.

“It’s going to be fine,” I tell him.

"Should I go up there by myself?"

I open the car door. "No way."

Alexsei gets out and jogs around the car, catching up with me as I stride toward the side of the building. I stop at the door and press the button on the intercom. This building doesn’t look as secure as I’d like, but at least she’s got this.

Luna's voice comes over the intercom a moment later. "Hello?"

"It's Cameron and Alexsei. Open your door."

She doesn't say anything for a long moment. I'm imagining that she's shocked we’re here. Maybe wishing she had a camera down here.

"What do you want?"

"We’re here to talk."

"You could've called."

"You didn’t leave us your number."

"Maybe you should take that as a hint."

I breathe in through my nose. "Open the fucking door or I’ll call Danielle."

Again she pauses.

"Dani doesn't live here anymore."

"But she still has a key," I say, assuming that this is true.

"But she's not here to let you use it, and she's not going to let crazy men into the apartment to accost me anyway,” Luna says.
