Helthiot hadlaughed. “Your sister is a one-off. She went to battle in themorning, brought foundlings home at noon, and had her child beforedinner. That is not normal. It is pure Ivetha.”

Ivetha hadgotten the urge to pace, so she picked up her daughter and walkedback and forth in their bedroom while the grinning maids changedthe sheets. Chores in the palace were done on a rotation, and theseladies had a tale to tell.

Arata smiledand just watched her pace.

When the feralurgency faded, he sat in the chair near the bed and urged her intohis arms with their new arrival all pink and wrinkled. Ivethaleaned against him. “The way she was kicking, I did not expect agirl.”

“The scansshowed she was a little princess.” He pressed his lips to her headas he didn’t want to chance hurting the little one.

“Yeah, but Iwas still in shock when she showed up.” She smiled and caressed thelittle face with a fingertip.

She leaned herhead against him and sighed, softly slowing her breathing andrelaxing. She felt him humming under her, and the healing continuedas she relaxed. “That was quite the day.”

He laughedagainst her ear and stroked his finger across the baby’s cheek.Arathe turned her face toward him, and they settled in for a longand well-defended reign.
