“Well, people hire me so they can do other things besides clean.”

“Oh, yeah.” Utah shrugged. “I’m a guest and not the one paying you, so it feels kind of weird doing other things without helping while you clean.”

“I really do appreciate the offer, but I have my routine, so…”

Utah finished the statement for her with a chuckle. “So, I’d only be in the way.”

Janice gave her a sheepish smile. “Something like that.”

“Say no more. We’ll head out back.”

“That’s not necessary. Really. The family room is finished, as is the bedroom. I just have to put the sheets back on the bed once they’re done in the dryer.”

Janice washed the sheets?

Utah needed a Janice in her life.

Then she realized she had the Janice—for a few more days anyway.

This day just kept getting better and better.

She should have known it wouldn’t last.

She really wanted to get online, if for no other reason than to read the news and maybe play a game of Wordle. Yet there was no way she was going to use her laptop, and she’d tried to keep her phone on airplane mode as much as possible since the night of the hospital hack. So other than when she’d looked at La Trattoria’s menu the other night, and the one time she’d gone to the library, she hadn’t stepped into cyberspace in over a month.

But the shiny silver laptop sitting on Liam’s desk seemed to beckon, “start me up!” when she walked by his office.

It was in no way connected to her, and other than her sister, no one knew she was at his house. As long as she kept the use benign and didn’t log into any accounts associated with her, she should be okay.

When he texted her later, she’d ask if he’d mind if she used his computer and go from there. Until then, she and Phoebe were going to sit outside and soak up some summer sunshine.

It was like he’d read her mind, because not less than a minute after she was situated in a lounger on the patio, her phone buzzed with a text from him.

Liam: Good morning, little honeybee.

Seeing the pet name he had for her in writing made her smile.

Utah: Good morning, handsome. I really need to come up with a nickname to call you.

Liam: Sir works.

Liam: Or My Liege

Liam: My Lord

Liam: Your Grace

Liam: Stallion if you’re feeling frisky.

She sent him an eyeroll emoji.

Utah: My Liege?? I was thinking more like Schmoopy.

She could picture him roaring with laughter after reading that.

Liam: Baby, if the word ‘Schmoopy’ comes to mind when you think of me, then I’m obviously doing something wrong.
