Liam introduced her every time, but never offered a title or explanation of their relationship. Nor did he share that she was now living with him. She supposed people could probably assume their relationship status based on the fact they were holding hands. And they’d figure out soon enough she was living with him when they kept seeing her in the neighborhood.

Although she knew he didn’t think it was anyone’s business what he did, so that was probably why he didn’t say anything, it still bothered her.

Maybe because she was curious herself how he saw her.

They got back to the house, and he took Phoebe’s leash off and hung it on a hook by the door. Then disappeared into the laundry room, only to quickly return with Phoebe’s dog dish.

“I put your clothes in the hamper in the laundry room. Janice empties my hamper in there whenever she’s here, then does a load when there’s enough to warrant running the washer.”

“Oh, she doesn’t have to do my laundry.”

His brow was furrowed when he pulled a pouch of Phoebe’s food from the refrigerator.

“It’s literally what I pay her to do.”

“You pay her to do your laundry, not mine.”

“No, I pay her to do the laundry in the house. And since you now live in this house, she’s going to do yours, too.”

Utah stammered to come up with an argument but came up empty. “I guess when you put it like that…”

“She won’t ruin your clothes, I promise.”

“Oh, I’m not worried about my clothes. I just didn’t want to create extra work for her.”

“She’ll probably welcome it. I think she gets bored.”

As he scooped Phoebe’s food onto a plate, she asked, “I thought you were going to change her feeding schedule to once a day?”

“No. I wanted a reason to have to leave work in the evening. Knowing she’s waiting for me to feed her makes me come home at a reasonable hour.”

Utah kind of loved hearing that.

He popped the plate in the microwave and pushed a few buttons before the hum of the device started.

“You should cover that.”

He wagged his finger for her to come closer, then pointed inside the microwave.

She peeked inside, then looked back at him.

“Your microwave has a built-in cover?”

“It does. Just press this button right here,” he touched a button on the panel.

“Wow. Aren’t you fancy.”

“Well, I don’t know how fancy I am, but I own some pretty fancy gadgets.” He wrapped an arm around her waist and bent down to murmur in her ear. “And I recall that you have some fancy gadgets, too, that I never got to play with. But we’re going to remedy that, later.”

A shiver ran down her spine.

“We are?”

He squeezed her ass with one hand. “Mmm hmm. Amy put them in the nightstand on your side of the bed.” He lowered his voice and whispered, “I checked.” Then he pulled back to watch her face when he added, “But they’re not all there.”

“I put some of them in storage.”

“You have things in storage?”
