The rest of lunch felt easier, having Parker there seemed to deflect some of the attention she and Liam had been getting. She was less self-conscious as they returned their dishes and trays to the drop-off window. The man was charming—probably one of the reasons he was chief of staff—and seemed to be a master at putting people at ease.

That is until he narrowed his eyes while staring at her neck.

Liam

“What an interesting necklace,” Parker remarked to Utah as they got on the elevator after lunch.

Liam’s dick moved in his pants when she reached up and touched the charm at her throat with a smile.

Mine.

“I like honeybees,” was all she said.

“It’s so unique. Do you mind if I ask where you got it?”

Liam knew damn well that Parker was well aware what the collar was and was just being an ass for Liam’s benefit.

His little bee didn’t even hesitate. “It was a gift.”

The car dinged when they reached the second floor, and Utah stepped out, then turned and held the door to say, “It was nice meeting you, Dr. Preston.”

“Parker, please.”

She nodded. “It was nice meeting you, Parker. Thank you for lunch, Mr. McDonnell.”

There wasn’t anyone else in the elevator, so he said to her with a wink, “Baby, you can call me Liam at the hospital.”

Utah moved her hand from the door and said, “Yes, Sir,” with a smirk just as the doors closed.

Parker hit the button already lit up for the sixth floor as he commented, “You kinky fucker.”

“Judge me all you want, Daddy, I’m getting laid every night.”

Parker barked out a laugh. “Touché.”

A few weeks ago, his friend had Alexandra on speaker phone when Liam was in his office, and she’d called him Daddy. Parker hadn’t even noticed until Liam gave him shit for it once they’d hung up.

He’d just shrugged unapologetically and said, “I’m getting laid every night.”

Liam hadn’t had a response to that.

At the time, he’d had pangs of jealousy. Utah had ghosted him, and he had no interest in dating anyone else, so while he was happy for his friend, he couldn’t help but feel he was missing out.

Not anymore. He couldn’t have Weird Science’d a more perfect woman for him.

Is she though? the devil on his shoulder wondered. Or is it just an act to stay out of jail?

Ever since he’d heard her talking to her friend, Amy, he couldn’t help but wonder.

Utah

She hadn’t been back from lunch for half an hour before she looked up to see a brand new chair with the tags still on it rolling into her office. After thanking the delivery guy, she happily switched seats and sank into absolute comfort, giving a little wag of her fingers as the man rolled her old chair away.

Fucking the boss definitely had its benefits. But she wasn’t going to let anyone think she didn’t deserve her job—even if she hadn’t conventionally gotten it.
