Ally shrugs at her and I ask, “A market for what?”

Liv rolls her eyes at me. “Your coffee shop, doofus. If there’s not a place for coffee there, and you want to open a fancy coffee shop, a town without one would probably be a good place to start.”

I’m shaking my head before she finishes. “I can’t do that.”

“Why not?” Kate asks.

“All of my research, my plans are for a coffee shop closer to a big town like Jackson Hole. Sure, Everette is a resort town, but I don’t even know what their tourist seasons are like, or what adjustments I would need to make to the business model.”

Liv smiles. “It’s handy that I listen to my husband talk about his work then, isn’t it? Winter and summer are their biggest seasons. Winter for the skiing at the resort, summer for the outdoor enthusiasts. But I bet the town would more than keep the shop afloat between the peak seasons, especially if the diner coffee is as bad as I remember.”

I look at Liv. “You’ve had the diner coffee?”

She nods with a shudder. “It’s like drinking motor oil.”

“How do you know what motor oil tastes like?” Kate snarks.

Liv waves that away. “I’m just saying. You’d have a market there. It might not be what you thought, but I bet it would be better than what they’ve got.”

Theoretically it could work. With a little bit of research and adjustment, I could move my business plans to Everette.

“I don’t even know what real estate costs there.” I was hoping to find a place to lease to start and eventually buy, but what if their property prices are higher than here?

“Well, you haven’t exactly had that much luck finding something in your budget here. Can your real estate agent look into it for you?” Ally asks.

I nod. “Probably.”

“Well then, that’s a start,” Kate points out.

It is, but…

“What about you guys?”

Sure, I can open a business pretty much anywhere there’s a need for it, but Felt is my home. It’s one of the first places I landed after graduating from high school, and everyone I know and love is here.

“What about us?” Ally asks.

“Felt is home,” I say because I don’t know how to explain the way the thought of leaving makes me feel.

“Felt isn’t going anywhere. We’re not going anywhere. You can visit, and you can have Boone and your business, the best of all worlds,” Liv vows.

The idea starts to take form in my mind. They’re not wrong. I can visit. Just as easily as Boone is coming to town to visit, we can both come to visit our friends.

And Ally’s right that I’ve been striking out on finding my own retail space for the last eight months.

I remember walking around town with Boone. While adorable, there were empty storefronts—vacant retail spaces. I’m sure that I can convert any of the locations into what I need them to be, and bringing new businesses to Main Street would be a smart move for any small touristy town.

The three of them raise their eyebrows at me, likely seeing the lightbulbs that are glowing in my brain.

“Holy shit, guys. I’m moving to Everette.”

They all grin at me and Liv says, “Attagirl.”

Ally sniffles next to me. “I’m really happy and excited for you, but I’m going to cry now.” She leans over and wraps her arms around me. Kate’s eyes start to glisten, and she shoves an enormous bite of brownie in her mouth, muttering, “Shit.”

My own watery laugh sounds choppy, tears already starting to drip down my cheeks.

“Don’t you guys know you can’t cry around me when I’m pregnant?” Liv cries while laughing at us.
